  • Patent number: 8934438
Abstract: A wireless device updates a first timing advance of a secondary cell group employing first timing advance command(s) for the secondary cell group. The wireless device stores the first timing advance upon expiry of an associated time alignment timer. The wireless device receives a second timing advance command for the secondary cell group with a timing advance value of zero. The second timing advance command starts the associated time alignment timer. The wireless device transmits uplink signals in radio resources identified in a received uplink grant employing the stored first timing advance.

  • Patent number: 8929400
Abstract: A physical layer (PL) frame generation method is provided. A PL payload is generated by encoding and modulating source data based on a first modcod of a first set. A synchronization header (a unique word (UW) of a UW set) is appended to the PL payload. The UWs of the set respectively correspond to different modcods of the first set, and the UW corresponds to the first modcod. A PL header is appended to the synchronization header and PL payload to form the PL frame. The PL header comprises a second UW and physical layer signaling (PLS). The PLS comprises encoded data fields reflecting a length of the PL frame, where the data fields are encoded based on a second modcod scheme of a second set. The first modcod set is designed for an SNR operating range relatively lower than the SNR operating range of the second modcod set.

  • Patent number: 8923319
Abstract: A user device connected to a CMTS over a network is configured such that upon power-up it can use a universal broadcast SID or a predetermined multicast SID to obtain an initial maintenance during a maintenance window. The predetermined multicast SID is assigned to the device at manufacture based on the type, or class, of device. The CMTS to which the devices connect is configured to schedule exclusive initial maintenance opportunity windows for each type of device in addition to an all-inclusive, or open, initial maintenance opportunity window, during which all types of devices may attempt to register. The order and number of initial maintenance windows within a periodically recurring sequence of windows can be configured by an operator based on the types of devices connected to the network.

  • Patent number: 8923262
Abstract: In a method for locating WIFI devices adjacent to an electronic device, one or more WIFI devices adjacent to the electronic device are searched for within a signal strength range of the electronic device. The method establishes an X-Y coordinate system based on a horizontal line and an initial position of the electronic device, and calculates coordinate values of each of the WIFI devices based on the X-Y coordinate system according to a moving distance of the electronic device and a relative distance between the electronic device and each of the WIFI devices. The method further draws a distribution map of the WIFI devices according to the coordinate value of each of the WIFI devices, and displays the distribution map indicating the location of each of the WIFI devices on a display screen of the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 8917672
Abstract: Provided are a MIMO transmission device and a MIMO transmission method which can improve reception quality of a response signal. A terminal (100) as the MIMO transmission device maps a first and a second element of the ACK/NACK signal vector formed from ACK/NACK signals onto a first and a second stream, respectively, and transmits the elements contained in a 2SC-FDMA symbol in a single slot. In the terminal (100), a response signal vector formation unit (140) forms [a·Sack, 0] as the ACK/NACK signal vector in a first SC-FDMA symbol and [0, a·Sack] as an ACK/NACK signal vector in a second SC-FDMA symbol. A precoding unit (165) uses a unitary matrix to precode the ACK/NACK signal vector formed in the response signal vector formation unit (140).

  • Patent number: 8913551
Abstract: The embodiments of the invention provide a method for selecting antennas for date transmission in a wireless communication network including user equipment (UE). The network is assigned a band of frequencies, wherein the band is partitioned into at least one set of subbands of the band according to a sounding reference signal (SRS) bandwidth configuration in a form of a codetree having a plurality levels and each level is associated with a partition coefficient. The UE is configured to transmit frequency-hopped SRS on the set of subbands using subsets of the set of antennas. First, the method determines if a number of subbands in the set of the subbands is odd or even based on the SRS bandwidth configuration, and selects a particular subset of the antennas according to whether the number is odd or even. Then, the SRS is transmitted from the particular subset of the antennas.

  • Patent number: 8908693
Abstract: A flow key is determined from an incoming packet. Two hash values A and B are then generated from the flow key. Hash value A is an index into a hash table to identify a hash bucket. Multiple simultaneous CAM lookup operations are performed on fields of the bucket to determine which ones of the fields store hash value B. For each populated field there is a corresponding entry in a key table and in other tables. The key table entry corresponding to each field that stores hash value B is checked to determine if that key table entry stores the original flow key. When the key table entry that stores the original flow key is identified, then the corresponding entries in the other tables are determined to be a “lookup output information value”. This value indicates how the packet is to be handled/forwarded by the network appliance.

  • Patent number: 8908495
Abstract: Disclosed are a wireless communication apparatus and frequency hopping method which minimize the change in the instantaneous power distribution characteristics of the time waveform of transmission signals when a plurality of channels are multiplexed by frequency division. At a terminal (200), a mapping unit (212) maps the PUCCH to frequency resources of a first slot, maps the PUSCH to frequency resources, among the frequency resources of the first slot, separated exactly by predetermined frequency spacing (B) from the frequency resources to which the PUCCH is mapped, and cyclically shifts the frequencies so as to map the PUCCH and PUSCH to frequency resources, within an IDFT or IFFT bandwidth, of a second slot while maintaining the predetermined frequency spacing (B), thereby allowing frequency hopping of the PUCCH and PUSCH between the first slot and the second slot.

  • Patent number: 8855053
Abstract: A method of multi-set RRC signaling for ap-SRS configuration is provided to enhance ap-SRS flexibility. An eNB transmits a plurality of sets of UE-specific SRS parameters to a UE via upper layer messaging in a multi-carrier wireless communication system. The eNB also determines triggering information of a selected set of UE-specific SRS parameters and an indicated carrier for the UE. The eNB then transmits an uplink or downlink grant over a primary carrier, the grant comprises triggering information for the UE to send an ap-SRS over the indicated carrier using the selected set of UE-specific SRS parameters. In one embodiment of joint signaling, the plurality of sets of UE-specific SRS parameters are signaled together in a single RRC transmission.
