  • Patent number: 5529533
Abstract: The present invention is a device which can be portable and easily attachable and removable from existing dental work station tables. The apparatus comprises a work platform which can be removably connected to the work station table. A suction tube at the work station can communicate with the surface of the work platform. The suction tube can easily be connected and disconnected from the work platform for use in treating the patient, such as providing mouth suction. The apparatus preferably is supported by a mounting means on the work table with the work platform preferably horizontal. Preferably the platform is supported by a support means through which it is attached by the mounting means to the table. The work platform thereby provides both support for the article being worked on and suction to remove debris.

  • Patent number: 5529530
Abstract: A vacuum blasting machine with a sealed waste transfer system has a collapsible sleeve that provides a containment interface between the waste chamber and the waste collection drum. The periphery of one end of the sleeve is secured around the periphery of the opening in the waste collection drum. In the transfer operation, the other end of the sleeve is pulled over the dump housing, providing an impervious containment barrier between the dump housing and the interior of the collection drum. The drum has a vent opening with a bushing to which a vent line is attached. A vent line connects the collection drum to the interior of the waste chamber via a valve.

  • Patent number: 5527215
Abstract: A rotatable foam buff for more efficient application of a finishing liquid to the surface of a workpiece. Excess finishing liquid is precluded from being thrown out from the perimeter of the rotating buff pad, due to centrifugal force, by the configuration of the finishing surface of the pad which includes one or more grooves located wholly within the perimeter of the pad, or, recessed regions that form a groove when pressure is applied to the back of the pad. The groove(s) captures potentially escaping finishing liquid which is then absorbed by the foam pad.

  • Patent number: 5526722
Abstract: An impact tool for removing bolts includes axially aligned impact section, torque section and shaft. The shaft is configured to extend through a socket to abut a bolt head when the socket is in operative communication with the bolt head. The shaft is additionally configured such that a torque applied to the shaft is transferred to the socket. The shaft defines a shaft face that abuts the bolt head. The impact section defines an impact face on the opposite end of the tool from the shaft face. The torque section is configured such that a torque applied thereto is transferred to the shaft. Accordingly, a blow to the impact face transfers an axial force to the bolt at the interface between the bolt head and the shaft face. Such axial force may tend to break a corrosive bond between the threads of the bolt and the receiving surface. Thus, axial blows to the tool in combination with torque applied to the torque section may tend to loosen and remove frozen bolts.

  • Patent number: 5526723
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an ergonomical and practical, handle-equipped universal striking tool with exchangeable tool bits for use when center-punching, driving cotter pins and nail heads and driving in clips of various kinds, i.e. for such activities where today a hammer is used for striking a separate thumb-grip held object or separate, thumb-grip held tools. The problems with the earlier known technique are a.o. inferior accessibility, tool instability, inferior view, impact injury risks and overloading of the hand, and the problems of looking after a complete tool kit. This object is achieved in accordance with the present invention by a handle (1), which at least at one end is equipped with an at least in one plane pivotably arranged driver head socket (2), to which a driver head (3) is attached, said driver head socket being pivotably and lockably arranged in said handle.

  • Patent number: 5527209
Abstract: Device is described that reduces the forces needed to release a wafer from a wet polishing surface after polishing. Device comprises attachment adapted to be mounted to a polishing apparatus to permit attachment surface, configured to mate with two regions of the wafer, to tilt relative to the polishing surface. Means for defining adhesive force between attachment surface and one of the two wafer regions, and means for defining adhesive force between attachment surface and other of the two wafer regions which is different than that defined between attachment surface and the one wafer region so as to cause a non-parallel relationship between the one wafer face and polishing surface, are provided. Unbalanced force causes a non-parallel relationship between wafer and polishing pad and facilitates separation and lifting of wafer from polishing surface.

  • Patent number: 5525097
Abstract: Disclosed is an air motor having an engine pack (with a rotor provided with front and rear retainers, a stator, and vanes) which can be assembled and replaced even by an unskilled person. An air supply joint is engaged with guide projections formed on the inner peripheral surface of a housing, with its forward end portion held in contact with the rear retainer; the forward end portion being fastened by a nut member which is threadedly engaged with the housing. On the rear face of the forward end portion are formed a plurality of first projections produced of a rigid synthetic resin, and on the front face of the nut member corresponding to the first projection are formed a plurality of second projections, so that a firm relation of engagement is established by an elastic force of restoration of the first projection; that is, the nut member will not accidentally become loose owing to the locking effect of the first and second projections.

  • Patent number: 5525093
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for the blast cleaning of the surface of an object using solid carbon dioxide pellets as the abrasive projected by a gaseous carbon dioxide propellent. The method and apparatus of this invention subjects a portion of a quantity of liquified carbon dioxide contained within a storage vessel to adiabatic expansion to provide a solid phase carbon dioxide and then compressing or extruding the solid phase carbon dioxide to form a plurality of pellets. Another portion of the liquified carbon dioxide is vaporized to provide a volume of gaseous carbon dioxide at above atmospheric pressure which is then used as a carrier and propellent to project the carbon dioxide pellets against the surface of the object to be cleaned. This invention eliminates the need to use a separate compressed air or nitrogen propellent system for a blast cleaning operation.

  • Patent number: 5525094
Abstract: A method of resharpening the knives in a chipping machine while they are installed in the knives' rotor is disclosed. For this purpose all knives are moved forward one after another to their functional position by an amount that corresponds to the wear of the edges. As part of this, the radial grinding feed which is required in order to achieve the desired protrusion of the edges above the relevant area of the knives' rotor is pre-programmed based on the detected state of wear. A device to implement this method is also disclosed. The device comprises a rotational disk for the knife rotor placed on top of a machine frame and where an equipment table is provided that supports a cross-wise translatory moveable grinding unit, as well as a radially moveable adjustment device which has a sensor to determine the state of wear of the relevant area of the knife rotor 8 and a stop face to limit the knife feed.

  • Patent number: 5525099
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for linearly displacing a rotatable spindle relative to an object. The apparatus includes a support that is connectable to the spindle such that translation of the spindle relative to the support in a first direction is restrained, a rotatable shaft which is connected to the support such that translation of the shaft relative to the support in the first direction is restrained, and a rotational drive system rotatably connected to the shaft and rotatably connectable to the spindle, to transmit rotational drive from the spindle to the shaft. The apparatus also includes a contact piece eccentrically mounted to the shaft, wherein the contact piece has a contact surface thereon for contact with the object. Rotation of the shaft varies a distance, measured in the first direction, between the support and a portion of the contact surface contacting the object, such that the spindle is linearly displaceable relative to the object.

  • Patent number: 5522760
Abstract: A method of microdeburring a selected portion of bore in a workpiece with a jet of abrasive gas is provided that is particularly applicable to the removal of microburrs at the interface between the timing and metering spill ports in a fuel injector metering barrel and the plunger bore. In the method, the nozzle that emits the abrasive gas is first inserted in and aligned with the bore so that the jet is focused on the microburrs at the interface. The nozzle is then actuated for a time period long enough for the jet to remove the microburrs from the bore, but insufficient for the jet to cause unwanted radiusing of the bore at the interface that could degrade the timing characteristics of the fuel injector. The method also includes the step of interposing a shield within the metering barrel to mask off the finished surface of the barrel from unwanted abrasion.
