  • Patent number: 10511393
Abstract: Geocast-based file transfer may be implemented via use of a Geocast File Transfer (GFT) protocol. A sending device may parse a file into multiple chunks. Respective multiple geocast packets comprising the chunks may be geocast. The sending device may geocast all packets sequentially. Upon geocasting all packets, the sending device may wait a predetermined amount of time. During the period of time, any receiving device that did not receive a chunk of the file may geocast a request for the missing chunk. Receiving devices also may wait various respective amounts of time before geocasting requests. Other receiving devices that may have missed a chunk may hear that the chunk it missed is being requested. And that device need not make a request for the chunk. Rather, that device may wait for the sending device to retransmit a geocast packet that contains the missing chunk.

  • Patent number: 10506457
Abstract: A method for managing a wireless network includes collecting a sequence of traffic data samples and arranging the sequence of data samples in a level-0 residual matrix having a dimension corresponding to a time scale defining a time window. The method also includes performing a least one cycle of subdividing the matrix based on the time scale to form traffic sample sets, calculating a functional that fits each sample set, and calculating an approximation of each sample set. The method also includes joining together the approximations to form an approximated matrix and calculating the difference between the matrix and the approximated matrix. The method further forecasts a traffic data trend for another time window by generating predicted samples based on the previous calculations, and allocating resources of the wireless network based on the traffic data trend.

  • Patent number: 10440716
Abstract: A method and system for controlling wireless communication over an air interface between a base station and a user equipment device (UE) served by the base station. In examples, the base station is configured to use a particular modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to transmit downlink control signals over the air interface to the UE without the base station beamforming the downlink control signals to the UE. Responsive to the base station determining that the UE is experiencing threshold poor RF conditions on the air interface, the base station reconfigures itself to beamform downlink control signals to the UE. And, given that the base station is reconfigured to beamform downlink control signals to the UE, the base station further reconfigures itself to use a higher-order MCS to transmit downlink control signals to the UE.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer-readable medium for preventing broadcast looping during a site merge are described herein. An example method can include detecting a site merge between a plurality of layer 2 (L2) networks using a spanning tree protocol (STP), blocking a data traffic port connecting the L2 networks in response to detecting the site merge, and performing an STP-Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) handshake. The STP-EVPN handshake can include changing a root bridge in one of the L2 networks. Thereafter, the method can include unblocking the data traffic port connecting the L2 networks. In other words, the data traffic port connecting the L2 networks can be unblocked after changing the root bridge in the one of the L2 networks.

  • Patent number: 10432416
Abstract: A method for performing evolved multimedia broadcast and multicast service (eMBMS) counting efficiently in wireless systems is provided. The method includes receiving by a radio link control (RLC) layer of a User Equipment (UE), a Multicast Control Channel (MCCH) packet containing an MBMS counting request from a network. The RLC layer then transfers the MCCH packet to a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer of the UE. The RRC layer processes the MBMS counting request and generating an MBMS counting response by and transmits an indication for successful reception of the MBMS counting request to the RLC layer. The RLC layer verifies if a subsequent MCCH modification boundary indication is received in a selected MCCH modification period and discards one or more subsequent MCCH packets received in a selected MCCH modification period if the MCCH modification boundary indication is not received from a physical layer.

  • Patent number: 10432376
Abstract: In mixed numerology case, the performance of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) can be improved by multiplexing PDSCH of one numerology with the channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) of the other numerology and use of an advanced receiver. However, due to the interference from the PDSCH of the other numerology, the channel estimation for the underlying UE can be impacted if the CSI-RS is corrupted. An adaptive CSI-RS configuration can be deployed where the CSI-RS density is adapted based on the PDSCH transmission of the other numerology. Namely, based on the scheduling decision of the other numerology, the CSI-RS density can be changed. Thus, the impact on channel estimation can be minimized when the data channel of one numerology is multiplexed with the CSI-RS of the other numerology.

  • Patent number: 10383114
Abstract: Improvement in co-existence of the LTE device-to-device communication with another device-to-device communication method is desired. The apparatus selects a countdown number within a size of a contention window including a plurality of slots before a target subframe. The apparatus determines whether each slot of the plurality of slots is idle or utilized while waiting for the target subframe. The apparatus counts down the countdown number during each of the determined idle slots. The apparatus determines whether the countdown number has reached a threshold number before the target subframe. The apparatus performs, when the countdown number is determined to have reached the threshold number, one of: deferring from transmitting until the target subframe, or transmitting a CUBS until a next subframe or the target subframe.

  • Patent number: 10361974
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for controlling base station buffering of data. In an example method, the base station serves a wireless communication device (WCD) over an air interface, where the air interface encompasses a quantity of channels on which the base station serves the WCD, where the base station is configured to buffer, in a data buffer, data awaiting transmission to the WCD, where the buffer has a fullness-threshold defining a maximum quantity of data that the base station will buffer for the WCD, and where the base station is configured to respond to the quantity of data in the buffer meeting the fullness-threshold by increasing the quantity of channels. Then, while serving the WCD, the base station determines an extent to which the WCD provides connectivity between at least one other device and the base station, and sets and applies the fullness-threshold based on the extent.

  • Patent number: 10342043
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described contention-based channel access procedures that may enhance efficiency in communications using unlicensed spectrum. A time period may be identified during which base stations perform contention-based downlink channel access procedures for access to a channel in an unlicensed spectrum. The base stations may be coordinated such that different base stations may seek channel access during different time intervals during the time period. Contention-based uplink channel access procedures for UEs may then be modified to favor one or more UEs that are associated with a base station that has won channel access.

  • Patent number: 10313078
Abstract: Devices and methods for transmitting information in resource blocks between a base station and one or more communication devices are disclosed. In each resource block (RB) used for a data or control channel transmission, a plurality of non-overlapping regions of resource elements (REs) are defined. Each region is associated with one or multiple unique reference symbols (RSs), and may be further associated with one or more antenna ports. When user equipment (UE) demodulates the information it receives in a particular region of an RB, it uses the RS and/or antenna port associated with that region. The RS and/or antenna port information may be used, for example, to estimate a channel of the communication network or to demodulate and decode the data contained within the associated regions.
