  • Patent number: 4672696
Abstract: A convertible sitting/reclining furniture article comprises a main frame and a seat element which is supported at a predetermined elevation above ground. A bed frame can be pulled out of and pushed into the main frame in a drawer-like manner and includes a front side, a rear side and two lateral sides. An extension element is mounted on the bed frame for displacement between a retracted position and an extended position in which the extension element is disposed at the predetermined elevation to form an extension of the seat element by a five-bar kinematic linkage at each of the lateral sides of the bed frame. Each of the kinematic linkages includes a steering lever pivotally mounted at a first region of the extension element and at a first portion of the bed frame, and two steering links more remote from the front side of the bed frame than the steering lever and adjacent to the steering lever.

  • Patent number: 4639959
Abstract: A wave generator for waterbeds comprises a paddle unit adapted for positioning on the horizontal mattress supporting surface of the bed frame between an edge of the mattress and a side panel of the frame and has a paddle extending to overlie the upfacing surface of the mattress. A pivoted arm supports the paddle and is reciprocated by an electric motor through pitman-like linkages to oscillate from a raised horizontal position to a downwardly inclined position whereby the paddle rhythmically depresses and releases the mattress creating waves in the surface thereof radiating from the paddle. A control box having an on/off switch, a speed control for the motor and a timer for the switch is interposed along wiring from the motor. The length of wiring between the motor and control box being sufficient to locate the control box for easy access by a user reclining on the mattress when the paddle unit is in operative position.

  • Patent number: 4637765
Abstract: A plastic rivet consisting of rivet body comprised of a flanged head and a leg member extending from the bottom of the head, the rivet body having an axial hole extending through its entire length, and a pin which when inserted into the through-hole, expands the leg member. The leg member of the rivet body is provided with a movable leg which is deflected outward when the pin is inserted into the through-hole of the rivet body so as, for example, to catch and hold a pair of plates through which the rivet body has been passed between the head of the rivet body and the deflected movable leg. Pushing the pin further into the rivet body causes the deflected movable leg to return to its normal position, whereby the fastening action of the rivet is released.
