Patent number: 4583563Abstract: A combined toothbrush and toothpaste dispenser, and a disposable toothpaste cartridge for use therein, comprising a brush having a hollow neck and a base with a non-circular opening adapted to receive a complementary non-circular mouth on a disposable toothpaste cartridge. A split tubular element is adapted to be assembled to the brush base and is rotatable with respect thereto. Ribs on the tubular element are disposed so as to clamp the mouth-remote end of the toothpaste cartridge so that rotation of the tubular elememt with respect to the brush base squeezes toothpaste from the cartridge and through the brush neck to the brush head. A tapering shoulder on the toothpaste cartridge adjacent to the mouth cooperates with a ledge on the split tubular element for preventing sliding removal of the mouth from the brush base opening during use.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1983Date of Patent: April 22, 1986Inventor: Burton S. Patent number: 4582059Abstract: A hygienic tongue scraping and massage instrument for freeing and removing pathogenic foreign matter entrapped in upper surfaces of the tongue comprises a pair of elongated handles and a generally straight cross bar formed with a scraping edge and having opposite ends connected respectively to forward ends of the handles. Connections of the opposite ends with the forward ends establish corners so that the scraping edge extends continuously along the cross bar to intersect the corners. Each handle is preferably rectangular in cross section with the cross bar being of triangular cross section and tapered downwards to form the scraping edge. The corners are generally sector or triangular shaped so that the handles and cross bar are sufficiently rigid to resist torsional flexing of the handles and minimize the tendency of the scraping edge to partially disengage the tongue as the instrument is brought forward by the user out of the oral cavity.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1984Date of Patent: April 15, 1986Inventor: Sandra J. Patent number: 4580587Abstract: A filled toothbrush or filled shaving brush which includes a tubular handle 4, in the hollow of which toothpaste or shaving snap is placed. At one end of the handle is a removable bristle holder, supplied with bristles, snap mounted so that it can be turned relative to the handle. The bristle holder has a connecting channel which leads from the bristles into the hollow of the handle and up to its end. A metering piston is mounted on the connecting channel and can be moved axially by rotating the handle relative to the bristle holder, and is at the same time prevented from rotating, relative to the connecting channel. Both the outer circumference of the piston and the inner surface of the handle are threaded to effect axial movement of the piston. The axis of bristle holder 1 may be offset from the rotational axis of handle 4 so that unintentional turning of the bristle holder relative to the handle, when in use, is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1984Date of Patent: April 8, 1986Inventors: Boje Rittich, Marco Tomenzoli

Patent number: 4572223Abstract: An assembly of a holder and dental brush is disclosed for massaging the gums, and cleaning around and between the teeth. The assembly comprises an elongate, molded plastic including a central holding arm, and angled ends integrally formed with the arm. Each end forms a slit portion that is compressable by means of a small moveable ring. At least one slot is provided in each angled end for receiving a correspondingly shaped handle of a cleaning brush, the slot being formed within the compressible slit. The dental brush is inserted by its stem into the slit and then moved into the slot to form an initial friction fit. The slot is then compressed by sliding a compression ring over the slit to compress the slot and secure the stem and brush in place. The device enables a user to manipulate the brush at an angle to the teeth and gums and effect a good cleaning and massaging action.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1983Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Dentool, Inc.Inventor: Marvin L.
