  • Patent number: 4601255
Abstract: A signal flag or pennant for use at sporting events consisting of an elongated flag staff on which is attached a hollow transparent flat envelope such as a plastic envelope into which is inserted a flag or pennant. A semi-circular spring-loaded clip having a diameter slightly smaller than the flag staff frictionally retains the plastic envelope to the staff. The flag or pennant can be removed at will from the plastic envelope and different flags or pennants can be inserted, depending upon the sporting event attended. The plastic envelope prevents rain or moisture from damaging the flag or pennant during its use.

  • Patent number: 4599965
Abstract: A diver's signal flag which is pivotally attached to the diver's belt or other portion of his equipment and protrudes above the water when the diver is at or just below the surface to indicate the presence of the diver to passing boats, other divers or rescue crews. The pivotal mounting allows the flag supporting mast to deflect when passing under kelp or similar obstructions. In a preferred form of the apparatus the flag mast is balanced by a pendulum weight to remain vertical and projects above the water regardless of the attitude of the diver. When submerged the flag remains erect and provides the diver with high visibility to other divers.

  • Patent number: 4596204
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting on a pipeline to signal the passage of a pipeline pig through the pipeline. A tubular body is mounted on the pipeline. A flag arm is hinged to the body member and pivotal between a set and an actuated position. A plunger rod is slideably supported on the body and engages the flag arm when both are in the set position. A connecting linkage displaces the plunger rod upon the rotation of a shaft within the body and an engagement member pivotally extends from the lower end of the body into the pipeline for displacement as a pig moves through the pipeline. The engagement members serves to rotate the shaft when it is displaced to thereby withdraw the plunger rod to permit the flag arm to move to the actuated position, indicating the passage of the pipeline pig.

  • Patent number: 4594891
Abstract: A filling level measuring probe detects the filling level in a container by suppression of an oscillator by contact with a filling material. The oscillator consists of a hollow body 16, which can be connected through a shaft 14 and a screw-in part 12 with a container wall 10 and is set in oscillation with oscillations in the radial direction over a crosspiece 20 mounted in hollow body 16 by means of an electromechanical transducer 26 which is mounted on crosspiece 20. The oscillations are converted by a second electromechanical transducer 28 into an electric signal, of which the amplitude is changed with suppression of the oscillations as a result of contact of the hollow body 16 with the filling material.

  • Patent number: 4595299
Abstract: Apparatus for measuring the temperature of an elongated movable object such as a wire or wire-rod exiting from a draw plate during a wire drawing process. The wire is located in a column-like chamber which is defined by two vertical walls and through which an upwardly moving flow of gas passes. A temperature sensor is mounted above and beneath the wire and the temperature difference in the gas is determined with the aid of a differential amplifier. The sensors may be thermistors or preferably thermocouples, which in the latter case are coupled with counteracting thermo-voltages for direct compensation and an output voltage proportional to the temperature difference.
