  • Patent number: 7073608
Abstract: A portable tool comprising a spindle defining a longitudinal axis, a spring extending around the spindle in the axial direction for biasing a component of the tool, a stop ring extending around the spindle and against which the spring bears. The spindle includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced radially outward projections and the stop ring includes on its internal surface a corresponding plurality of recesses extending from the bearing face of the stop ring to an opposite face, and a corresponding plurality of pockets open at the opposite face. During assembly, the stop ring is fitted over the spindle or sleeve by the passing the recesses over the projections and then rotating the stop ring to align the pockets with projections. The stop ring is axially fixed on the spindle by the pockets engaging the projections under the biasing force from the spring.

  • Patent number: 6994241
Abstract: The invention discloses a method and apparatus for squaring wall panel assemblies prior to nailing sheathing material thereto. A preformed wall section having a frame and studs has a sheathing member placed thereover and fastened thereto whereby said components form a prefabricated wall section. To ensure that the assembled wall section is square the assembly line has squaring stops positioned on each side of the guide track. These stops are engineered to be in alignment with each other and causing the workpiece to form two right angles prior to release for nailing.

  • Patent number: 6991146
Abstract: A stapler having a detached base supporting an anvil and a first magnetic element, and a stapling assembly for ejecting staples from a magazine port. The stapling assembly supports a second magnetic element positioned for magnetic coupling to the base to align the anvil with the magazine port. Accordingly, the staple-driving stapling assembly and detached anvil-supporting base are not mechanically coupled. Instead, the stapling assembly and base are magnetically couplable. The magnetic coupling feature eliminates throat depth limitations and allows for staple placement at any desired location on a sheet of any size. An alignment guide may be provided to visually indicate an approximate location where a driven staple will be placed. The base and stapling assembly may be provided with friction pads for limiting movement of any sheets therebetween while stapling.

  • Patent number: 6938812
Abstract: A magazine assembly for a fastening tool. The magazine assembly slides on guide posts that are formed into the nose assembly of the fastening tool and is clamped to the fastening tool via a magazine clamp assembly that requires no tools to operate. The magazine clamp assembly may be partially released to permit the magazine assembly to be partially withdrawn from the nose assembly so that the nose assembly may be maintained without the complete removal of the magazine assembly.
