  • Patent number: 11353711
Abstract: A wearable display apparatus has a headset for display from left-eye and right-eye near-eye catadioptric pupil-forming optical systems, each defining an exit pupil. Each optical system has an image generator to direct image-bearing light for a 2D image from an emissive surface. A curved reflective surface along the view axis is partially transmissive and defines a curved intermediate focal surface. A beam splitter reflects light toward the curved reflective surface. An image relay optically conjugates the formed image with a curved aerial image formed in air at the curved intermediate focal surface. The image relay has a prism having an input surface facing the emissive surface of the image generator, an output surface facing the curved intermediate focal surface, and a folding surface between input and output surfaces for folding the optical path for light generated by the image generator. An aperture stop for the relay is within the prism.

  • Patent number: 11347051
Abstract: Systems and methods for synthesizing an image of the face by a head-mounted display (HMD), such as an augmented reality device, are disclosed. The HMD may be able to observe only a portion of the face with an inward-facing imaging system, e.g., the periocular region. The systems and methods described herein can generate a mapping of a conformation of the portion of the face that is not imaged based at least partly on a conformation of the portion of the face that is imaged. The HMD can receive an image of a portion of the face and use the mapping to determine a conformation of the portion of the face that is not observed. The HMD can combine the observed and unobserved portions to synthesize a full face image.

  • Patent number: 11340742
Abstract: A multi-layer conductive coating is substantially transparent to visible light, contains at least one conductive layer comprising silver that is sandwiched between at least a pair of dielectric layers, and may be used as an electrode and/or conductive trace in a capacitive touch panel. The multi-layer conductive coating may contain a dielectric layer of or including zirconium oxide (e.g., ZrO2) and/or silicon nitride, and may be used in applications such as capacitive touch panels for controlling showers, appliances, vending machines, electronics, electronic devices, and/or the like. The coating may have increased resistivity, and thus reduced conductivity, compared to pure silver layers of certain coatings, in order to allow the silver-based coating to be more suitable for use as touch panel electrode(s).

  • Patent number: 11290706
Abstract: A wearable device may include a head-mounted display (HMD) for rendering a three-dimensional (3D) virtual object which appears to be located in an ambient environment of a user of the display. The relative positions of the HMD and one or more eyes of the user may not be in desired positions to receive, or register, image information outputted by the HMD. For example, the HMD-to-eye alignment vary for different users and may change over time (e.g., as a given user moves around or as the HMD slips or otherwise becomes displaced). The wearable device may determine a relative position or alignment between the HMD and the user's eyes. Based on the relative positions, the wearable device may determine if it is properly fitted to the user, may provide feedback on the quality of the fit to the user, and may take actions to reduce or minimize effects of any misalignment.
