  • Patent number: 6679970
Abstract: A technique for preventing unauthorized access to a hidden code on a prepaid telephone card. A technique for preventing an undetected access to a hidden number or code on a lottery ticket, prepaid telephone card, game piece, or other type of item. A structure is provided to prevent the embezzlement and viewing of the hidden number on a prepaid card by attaching an opaque film label over the hidden number to conceal the hidden number, attaching a holographic image over the film label, and attaching a transparent film over the holographic image. The transparent film, holographic image, and film label must be removed in order to view the hidden code. When the transparent film, holographic image, and film label are removed, certain marks are left on the card which clearly demonstrate that the hidden number has been accessed.

  • Patent number: 6673181
Abstract: A fabrication process for ferrite toroids which utilizes ferrite ceramic tape having an improved elongation characteristic. The process utilizes a set of rigid mandrels which are employed in the final lamination to support the rectangular cross section of the internal cavity of a respective ferrite tube, thereby reducing stress concentration and permitting the highest lamination pressure to be used in the final step. The mandrels are removed prior to panel densification. The tape and mandrels operate together to minimize cracks and pores in the toroids and provide an added advantage of maintaining high tolerances in the internal cavity dimensions as well as the cavity-to-cavity alignment.

  • Patent number: 6669796
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a laminated ceramic electronic component, a first transfer member and a second transfer member are prepared on a lamination stage to produce the laminated ceramic electronic component. The first transfer member includes a conductor-attached composite green sheet having a conductor on a portion of the surface thereof, including a non-magnetic ceramic region and a magnetic ceramic region, and a first carrier film that carries the conductor-attached composite green sheet. The second transfer member includes a ceramic green sheet and a carrier film that carries the ceramic green sheet. The laminated ceramic electronic component is thus produced through a first transfer step in which the ceramic green sheets are successively transferred, through a second transfer step in which the conductor-attached composite green sheet is transferred, and through a third transfer step in which the ceramic green sheet of the second transfer member is transferred.

  • Patent number: 6668895
Abstract: A labeling machine has a rotatably mounted drive wheel with alternating knurled and recessed sections formed on its circumference. The drive wheel rotates at a predetermined number of revolutions per minute, and the respective lengths of the knurled and recessed sections are pre-selected to provide a timing function that synchronizes operation of various parts of the machine. A label-carrying backing is driven along a path of travel between a supply drum and a take-up drum when a knurled section is in meshing agreement with a rotatably mounted pressure wheel. The backing is held against travel by a detent member when a recessed section is in juxtaposition with the pressure wheel, and a rotatably mounted cam operates an air valve that causes the detent member to momentarily release the backing just before a knurled section engages the pressure wheel.

  • Patent number: 6666946
Abstract: Methods of high speed coating a pigment-containing liquid coating material onto a substrate so as to avoid visible pigment separation in the coating material in its as coated state. In the method, a pigment-containing liquid coating material is applied to a substrate, while the substrate is moving at a high line speed of at least about 15.24 m/min., to form a coated layer. The coating material is applied to the substrate along a substantially straight, dynamic wetting line where the coating material first contacts the moving substrate. The coating material is of the type that will exhibit visible pigment separation on its interface surface when the coating material is coated onto the fast moving substrate, without the use of a substantially straight wetting line. The wetting line is substantially straight when a significant amount of visible pigment separation does not occur at the chosen high line speed.
