  • Patent number: 5179847
Abstract: A cable locking device consisting of two axially slotted cylindrically shaped closed-end structures, each having attached a rigid tube of smaller diameter than the cylinder. The length of each tube is greater than half the wheelbase of a skateboard, and one tube will fit within the other. The axial slots allow each cylinder to be guided over the trucks of a skateboard, entirely encompassing the truck and associated mounting hardware. Upon installation of the device, the smaller rigid tube has been incorporated within the larger tube. The free end of an attached locking cable is inserted into two aligned apertures, one on each tube, and a locking device contained within the larger tube secures the cable in place.

  • Patent number: 5177987
Abstract: A key-in-lever type door lock which can be installed on either a left hand or right hand door by a left-right reverse operation of a reverse plate. The lock comprises a lock assembly which regulates a uni-directional, 45-degree rotation of a handle thereof and a latch assembly which converts the 45-degree rotational movement to a retraction of a latch bolt. The lock is jimmy-proof, i.e., secure against improper manipulation, by the provision of a latch stop pivoted to the latch bolt and being movable together therewith. The latch stop, which has a catch end normally blocked by a retaining plate, is operationally pivotable about the latch bolt to release the blockage, thereby permitting a relative sliding movement between the latch stop and the retaining plate.

  • Patent number: 5174136
Abstract: A padlock with removable cylinder mechanism offers the user a choice of two distinct manners of operation or "functions"--a Key Retaining function and a Non-Key Retaining function. This dual function capability in a single unit is achieved by a rotator bolt bored to allow placement of a pattern of pins. A series of pins, which when installed in the rotator bolt in a specified pattern, causes the function selection to be accomplished. A re-keyable padlock which accepts widely available, standard dimensioned, generic key operated lock cylinders allowing the keying of this padlock to be adapted to the wide range of keying systems used in locks found in residential, commercial and other uses as required for security and convenience. The use of standard dimensioned cylinders in the padlock is accomplished by a cylinder retainer, tailpiece stop and rotator bolt which adapts the generic cylinder to padlock use.

  • Patent number: 5172577
Abstract: A door lock having a first member rigidly affixed adjacent a door and having a second member slidably coupled to the first member for slidably advancing the second member in a first direction into a locked position overlying the door. A latch member is carried by the second member for slidable advance of the latch member in a second direction so as to releasably mate the latch member within a latch aperture on the first member, thereby locking the second member in the locked position. A timer is carried by the seond member for withdrawing the latch member from the latch aperature upon expiry of a pre-determined time interval thereby allowing the slidable withdrawal of the second member from the locked position into an open position away from the door.

  • Patent number: 5167135
Abstract: A safety lockout adapter is formed of two coupling members. Each coupling member is adapted to couple with another corresponding coupling member of substantially similar configuration for locking-out power disconnects or fluid line disconnects. When connecting the members to the power disconnect handle, a worker must use both hands. Each coupling member comprises a substantially rigid and planar member having opposing front and rear edges and opposing side edges defining front and rear portions. The front portion includes on one of the side edges an arcuate portion extending inwardly to form a substantially concave cut-out and a hook portion defined by the front edge and projecting toward the side from the front of the concave cut-out. Means positioned along the side edge opposite the arcuate cut-out holds together two coupling members when reversed and coupled in overlapping registry with each other.

  • Patent number: 5157954
Abstract: A bicycle anti-theft device which may be permanently attached to a bicycle frame, and provides structure to support a locking mechanism which traverses the spokes of a wheel. The mounting assembly (10) supports and secures two elongated flat arms (16R) and (16L) to the center vertical tube of a bicycle frame. The two arms are slidably mounted in notched casing, (14R) and (14L) which are each fastened to a corresponding half of a mounting clamp (12R) and (12L). The mounting clamp halves are secured to the bicycle frame utilizing threaded fasteners (22). The right elongated arm (16R) possesses a through hole (44) which allows or denies access to these mounting fasteners in the unlocked and locked positions, respectively. The two elongated arms also possess holes (42) which support a padlock (18) between adjacent spokes of a wheel to prevent its rotation and holes (48) to support the padlock away from the wheel during vehicle operation.

  • Patent number: 5158330
Abstract: A motor veicle compartment closure lock with a locking wedge (2) attached on the closure, and lock elements attached on an opening frame for the closure. The locking wedge (2) can be retracted, in a powered way, from an extended, open position into a pushed-in, locked position and, for this purpose, is coupled by a lever mechanism (3) to a power transmission element (5) with a powered drive. The powered drive can be built especially small and light because the drive is made as a drive that operates only in one direction (locking direction) and returns automatically in the opposite direction. Power transmission element (5) is slaved or can be slaved to the locking wedge (2) in the locking direction and moves freely in the opposite direction. A shifting lever (6) is provided that is carried by the power transmission element (5) in the locking direction and is spring-loaded in the opposite direction.
