  • Patent number: 5050052
Abstract: A light assembly for installation in an aquatic facility such as a swimming pool, fountain or the like. The light assembly has a watertight lamp housing mounted within a generally cup-like mounting box to be installed within a wall recess or opening in the aquatic facility. Both the mounting box and the lamp housing have body shells which are tapered for stacking during manufacture, storage, and installation. The mounting box has a coupling which is adapted for connection to an electrical conduit containing an electrical cable that conducts electrical power to the lamp housing and which is adjustable to accommodate a range of orientations of the conduit relative to the box. The body of the lamp housing has a unique one piece shell construction including an integrally formed main body portion and face ring which greatly simplifies and reduces the manufacturing cost of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5045984
Abstract: A device arranged to be releasably mounting within a hole in a panel, e.g., a ceiling, to hold a lamp bulb and associated reflector or any other member therein. The device comprises a tubular body, a flange for engaging one side of the panel, and plural, equidistantly, peripherally-spaced, flexible arms for engaging the other side of the panel. Each arm extends outward from the body and is moveable from an extended position to a retracted position and vice versa. The arms are moved from the extended position to the retracted position when the body is pushed into the hole while being twisted about its longitudinal central axis in one rotational direction. The arms automatically move back to the extended position when the device is in place to hold the device securely within the hole. The device can be removed by pulling it out of the hole while twisting it about its longitudinal axis in the same rotational direction as used to insert it, whereupon the arms flex to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 5041950
Abstract: A light assembly for outdoor purposes utilizing a supportive and corrosion protective housing allowing below grade placement. Individualized lamp and electrical component assemblies are separately sealed from water infiltration and are located within the housing with electrical connections provided by submersible rated cable and connectors. A potting material in the lamp assembly encapsulates the electrical wires which are further surrounded by a solid soldering compound barrier. A closure assembly separately seals the electrical components using a mounting base, a harness and a potting body which form one body through molding of the potting body about the remainder of the elements. A harness assembly wicking barrier is employed which further isolates the transformer from water infiltration. Bare metal strips forming conductors are encapsulated in the potting material. A face ring with slotted openings permits air flow and water entry into the housing for cooling the lamp assembly.

  • Patent number: 5036446
Abstract: The lamp handle cover system for surgical lamps includes a semi-permanent, non-disposal surgical lamp handle and its accessory component, a sterile disposable semi-flexible handle cover, which, in combination, provides an aseptic medium by which a surgical team member can manually adjust the operating room lamp during a surgical procedure, thereby preventing accidental or unknown incidental contamination. The non-disposable lamp handle includes an ergonomically designed grip handle and a locking/coupling assembly which couples the grip handle to the male component of the conventional surgical lamp. The sterile disposable handle cover is formed from a flexible sleeve closed at one end and having a relatively rigid collar formed about the opposite open end. By holding the sleeve just below the collar, the surgical team member can easily slide the handle cover over the grip handle to engage the locking/coupling assembly which holds the handle cover in a secure position.
