  • Patent number: 6278360
Abstract: A vehicle collision warning system includes a distance measuring device for measuring a distance from a subject vehicle to an obstacle in front of the subject vehicle, a speed detecting device for detecting a speed of the subject vehicle, a control device for receiving signals from the distance measuring device and the speed detecting device and estimating a possibility of collision to the obstacle based on the received signals, and an alerting device electrically connected to the control device. When the control device determines that there is a possibility of collision, the alerting device receives a signal from the control device and emits a first alarm to the subject vehicle and provides a second alarm to a following vehicle without awaiting an action of a driver of the subject vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6259357
Abstract: A trailer hitch positioning apparatus is provided for directing the driver of a vehicle that is backing up to a trailer. The apparatus includes an infrared light and sensor unit mounted on the bumper or receiver of the towing vehicle for transmitting a light beam of predetermined vertical and horizontal width toward the trailer. A reflecting device mounted under the trailer tongue returns infrared light impulses with information back to the sensors which are analyzed by a microprocessor that controls a transmitter. The transmitter audibly guides the driver's ball to the trailer hitch for coupling. A stop tone warns the driver to stop when the ball and hitch are accurately positioned for coupling.

  • Patent number: 6194996
Abstract: A signal superposing apparatus designed, in accordance with a basic power line model taking account of the term of the mutual inductance and that of a self inductance of a transformer connected to AC power lines, with the circuit constants of capacitors selected appropriately to minimize the distortion of information waveform by the effect of the impedance of the transformer, will permit any desired waveform to be superposed over power signals with its distortion being kept to the minimum. In this way, for example a stepwise pulse waveform can be superposed over power signals with the distortion of waveform being minimized, and accordingly CDMA is made possible in a power line carrier system whereby information signals are communicated with power signals on AC power lines being used as carrier wave.

  • Patent number: 6177876
Abstract: A Pressure Sensitive Alarm Component is provided and includes a pressure plate and a base plate. Within the base plate are the pressure plate truss assemblies, the weight transfer assembly, and the sliding switch assembly. The weight transfer assembly includes a load transfer arm which moves back and forth as weight is placed on or removed from the pressure plate and a dial to adjust the position of the load transfer arm. The sliding switch assembly includes a sliding contact support arm which is rigidly linked to the load transfer arm. The sliding switch assembly further includes a plurality of stationary contacts incorporated into a base plate, and two sliding contacts mounted on the sliding contact support arm. The sliding contacts may move along the stationary contacts and open and close the control circuit as they come in out of contact with different pairs of stationary contacts.
