  • Patent number: 5288945
Abstract: An electric outlet safety plate incorporates sliding cover elements which, in various positions, cover the electric outlet when not in use, open for insertion of an electric plug, and grasp the plug to prevent removal. A plate member includes a groove extending outwardly to the side from each of the electric outlet openings. A pair of substantially identical sliding members engage the groove from opposing sides of the plate member. The sliding members include an outlet covering portion which is spaced from the outer surface of the electric outlet and has its inner edges toothed to enhance their grasp upon the electric plug. The sliding members are lockable against outward movement on the plate member. Teeth are formed upon the plate member so as to extend within the groove, and a second set of teeth are formed upon the sliding member so as to releasably engage the teeth of the plate member.

  • Patent number: 5283391
Abstract: A wiring box for arranging the cables is buried under the ground after the cables are arranged and after the box is hermetically sealed with mortar in the construction site. It is therefore desirable that the wiring box is easily assembled at the construction site. The adapter for wiring of the invention is consists of a box and partitioning walls that divide the interior of the box into a plurality of areas. Namely, insertion holes are formed in the adapter, cables are inserted in the insertion holes, and paste is charged into the areas partitioned by the partitioning walls, enabling the cables to be easily arranged.

  • Patent number: 5280132
Abstract: A plastic load center box economically provided by duplicate molded end sections joined by an intermediate section of uniform cross-section which is readily provided in selected lengths in either molded or extruded form. End walls receive metal inserts electrically interconnected to provide grounding when attached to grounded conduit, or plastic inserts where the load center application does not require grounded conduit. Molded end sections have formed knockouts and wire clamping tabs. A metal cover for the box is grounded to the metal inserts or to the interconnection. Additional plastic inserts in the end walls provide forwardly open pockets in which cable may be laid, and closing inserts overlying the pockets to grip the cable and retain it in the pockets.

  • Patent number: 5272281
Abstract: An electrical outlet safety cover is made in three simple pieces: a four walled body, a cap having cord egress slots, and a small closure slidably insertable into and removable from the four walled body. The closure optionally provides top or bottom cord egress, the cap slots providing frontal and partial side egress. The cap entraps the body and small closure upon assembly, assembly being secured by a screw, threaded through the cap and engaging preexisting threads in the electrical outlet. The safety cover components are uncomplicated and inexpensive, yet rugged. The body is selectively positioned to provide different cord egress configurations. Electrical cords are not constrained to describe sharp bends within the cover, and may not be pulled laterally so as to bend the cord plug prongs.

  • Patent number: 5272280
Abstract: An overvoltage protector assembly and a method of attaching a terminal member through a dielectric body. The assembly has a dielectric body, and line terminal members extending through the body into a chamber within. The terminal members each have a shaft passing through the body and first and second radially extending, opposing abutment surfaces which engage inner and outer surfaces of the body. The body is compressed between the opposing abutment surfaces in an axial direction of the shaft to deform the body inwards to sealingly engage the terminal member between the opposing abutment surfaces. The body is formed with axial projections around apertures receiving the line terminals, so that compressing the body results in displacement of material of the body to form annular projections sealingly engaging around the shaft between the abutment surfaces. Peripheral surfaces of the terminal member are cooperable with the body to prevent relative rotation of the body and the terminal member.

  • Patent number: 5272277
Abstract: A telecommunications wiring system reliably provides fast configuration and reconfiguration of user telecommunications devices within a localized telecommunications network. A series of piping assemblies creates a network of pair appearances in multiple. Then, hard-wired pair selectors, extractors, are used to connect at least one preselected signal from the piping assembly to the telecommunications device. Since only several of the many signal paths are permanently spliced within the connector of the extractor, only those several paths provide a continuous path for transmission. Whenever the position of a telecommunications device needs to be changed within the network, the extractor associated with the telecommunications device is unplugged from the piping assembly to accompany the telecommunications device to its new location.

  • Patent number: 5262587
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a clamping element for holding electronic boards inserted in parallel to one another into an electronic rack. The arrangement removes waste heat from the electronic boards to the rack housing by heat conduction and via heat exchangers. A clamping element is proposed for this purpose, which substantially reduces the thermal resistance and consequently the temperature difference caused by heat conduction between the electronic board and the housing rack, and which also permits variable, defined adjustable clamping forces, and which is designed as an optical clamping control indicator.
