  • Patent number: 5413046
Abstract: A signal transmission tube assembly includes a signal transmission tube, such as a coil of shock tube on a spool, having opposite terminal ends and containing a reactive material. The open terminal ends of the shock tube provide the sole exits for the signal generated therein and the sole entry points for contaminants. Sealing means seal both terminal ends of the signal transmission tube against escape from the assembly of the signal engendered by initiated reaction of the reactive material, and protects the interior of the signal transmission tube from contamination. The sealing means may be a releasable sealing means which can be actuated to release the transmission tube from it, thereby facilitating re-use of the sealing means. Further, the sealing means may comprise a surge chamber to relieve pressure engendered by reaction of the reactive material and thereby militate against rupture of the signal transmission tube and consequent release from the assembly of a signal.

  • Patent number: 5412894
Abstract: An inertia striker assembly including a striker and a U-shaped spacer straddling the striker, both the striker and the spacer being free to slide axially and independently within a cylindrical bore in a slide body. The U-shaped spacer transfers energy from a striker spring to the striker to propel the striker from a cocked position toward a firing position. Movement of the U-shaped spacer is arrested by engagement of the spacer with an abutment surface within the bore allowing the striker to complete its travel to the firing position under its own inertia.

  • Patent number: 5410835
Abstract: A bipod support for a firearm comprises a first strut and a second strut angularly related to each with one of the struts having an elongated projection serving as the rest for the barrel of a rifle or a pistol when the two struts are positioned upright on the ground. In one embodiment, the first and second struts are hinged to each other so that they may be folded relative to each other for compact storage. In an alternative embodiment, the first strut is a hollow tubular member and the second strut may be placed inside the first strut in a coaxial telescoped manner for easy storage. One end of the second strut is beveled so that when it is inserted in an opening in the wall of the first strut it forms the desired angular relationship therewith. A series of rubber grommets on the barrel of the second strut resiliently engages the inside wall of the first strut when the two parts are telescoped together to thereby frictionally maintain the parts together and avoid relative movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5408915
Abstract: An automatic cannon, especially for cylindrical, telescoped shells, comprises a receiver in which is rotatably mounted an interconnected gun barrel and barrel extension or rotor. The rotor is connected to a power source, which may be an external source, for being driven at a relatively uniform rotational velocity for firing. A chamber having two laterally spaced apart, feed through, shell-holding cavities, is radially slidably mounted in a centrally located, transverse rotor aperture. Three cooperative camming means, responsive to rotor rotation, cause shell feeding, firing and ejection. Shell camming means simultaneously transport shells from an associated feeder into the chamber cavities and fired shell casings from the chamber cavities to a receiver ejection port.

  • Patent number: 5408778
Abstract: A gun sight mount used in association with a gun barrel, such gun sight mount positioned on a axially rotatable shaft member disposed at an acute angle to the axis of the gun barrel, offsetting such sight mount to a side of such gun barrel. A handle causes rotation of the shaft member and sight mount such that the sight mount moves from a position where its axis is parallel to the axis of the gun barrel to a position where its axis is pointing downward and outward from the direction of the axis of the gun barrel to a point selected for the desired range whence the sight is then aimed at the target which action then elevates the gun barrel for the correct range and offsets the gun barrel from the target to adjust for the projectile's drift in order to aim the projectile accurately to hit the target.

  • Patent number: 5406730
Abstract: A method and apparatus for counting the rounds expended from a firearm. When a non sound-suppressed firearm is discharged, two things occur: A strong sound wave is produced due to the quick expansion of the gases produced by the ignition of the powder in the case; and a rearward motion of the firearm occurs, usually referred to as recoil, due to the projectile moving in the forward direction, as Newton's law states. The integration of both recoil and sound transducers guarantees that in order for the device to increment or decrement both the recoil and the gunshot must occur in the same time frame, thus guaranteeing an accurate count with an easy to install and compact device comprised of an acoustic and dynamic switch, whose outputs are fed into the input of a NAND gate, with the output of the NAND gate fed into a digital counter, then fed into a decoder/driver for output into the output display. The device is able to be reset just before or just after reloading of the firearm by the push of a button.

  • Patent number: 5404812
Abstract: A mechanical acceleration sensor having a weight movably supported on a casing, a latch lever loaded with a set load and disposed to face the weight, and a firing pin spring-loaded and engaged with the latch lever. The latch lever is disengaged from the firing pin against the set load by inertial movement of the weight relative to the casing, thereby allowing the firing pin to perform a percussive action. A sub-lever is provided in connection with the latch lever. The sub-lever is disposed to face a side of the weight which is opposite to the side thereof that faces the latch lever so as to cooperate with the latch lever to clamp the weight from both sides of the direction of inertial movement of the weight, thereby making it possible to sense acceleration acting on the sensor in both the positive and negative directions of inertial movement of the weight by the inertial movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 5405242
Abstract: An air cooled stator vane or the like for a gas turbine engine is constructed to include a plurality of axially and radially spaced pockets formed on the outer surfaces of the airfoil sections. Air is directed into the pocket on one end of a passage defined by the pocket to impinge on the back wall of the pocket, change directions and flow through the passage and discharge into the gas path as a film of cooling air coalesced by slots formed at the end of the pocket. The outer wall can be cast in its entirety or fabricated from sheet metal sheaths supported to a cast inner shell. The pockets are fed cooling air through a central passage in the stator vane or through impingement inserts disposed in the central passage.

  • Patent number: H1440
Abstract: Disclosed is a disposable absorbent garment having a belt. The belt may either be integral with or detachable from the absorbent portion of the garment. The belt is arcuate so that one laterally extending edge of the belt is longer than the other laterally extending edge of the belt. This arrangement provides a better fitting belt which more discretely conforms to the contours of the wearer and is less noticeable under clothing.Alternatively, the belt may have a portion which is worn relatively high on the wearer's back, extends diagonally downward to the front of the wearer and is worn relatively low, below the stomach of the wearer in front. This arrangement provides a belt which generally does not interfere with the portions of the wearer's body which encounter large ranges of motion during normal movements of the body.
