  • Patent number: 7868923
Abstract: An optical system forms an optical image on an imager, and a read control block selects a read rule for the imager depending on a magnification addressed by a magnification address block. The imager transforms an optical image at an addressed area into electrical signals in compliance with the read rule. The read image signals are stored in n image memories, where n is the number of images necessary for ultra-resolution processing. Ultra-resolution processing is built up of a motion estimation block and a high-resolution image estimation block adapted to estimate image data having a high-resolution image sequence. A selector selects a basic image for motion estimation and an image that is estimated in terms of motion.

  • Patent number: 7868950
Abstract: In a method of processing an input image, compression parameters of the input image are determined and luminance artifacts in the input image are reduced to obtain an improved luminance component of the input image, where the determined compression parameters guide the luminance artifact reduction. In addition, a chrominance noise and chrominance artifact level of the input image is estimated and a spatially-correlated chrominance noise and chrominance artifact of the input image is reduced with the improved luminance component, where the estimated chrominance noise and chrominance artifact level guide the spatially-correlated chrominance noise and chrominance artifact reduction to obtain an improved chrominance component of the input image. Moreover, an output image having the improved luminance component and the improved chrominance component is outputted.

  • Patent number: 7855745
Abstract: An electronic camera is provided with a power-saving S-AF mode and a C-AF mode as focus adjustment modes. In the S-AF mode, focus adjustment is performed upon half depression of a release button. In the C-AF mode, the focus adjustment is repeated during a shooting mode regardless of the half depression of the release button to simplify the focus adjustment of a shooting time so that shooting is smoothly performed. When the electronic camera is set to the shooting mode, an AF controller obtains an Ev value representing subject brightness. The Ev value is compared with a threshold value stored in a memory. When the Ev value exceeds the threshold value, the focus adjustment mode is changed to the S-AF mode. When the Ev value falls below the threshold value, the focus adjustment mode is changed to the C-AF mode.

  • Patent number: 7855738
Abstract: An imaging device which assures high-quality image information free from a line noise by extracting line noise information from a taken image, detecting an existence of an extrinsic line noise in the image, and correcting the line noise if it exists. The imaging device comprises a memory circuit for storing image pick-up outputs at imaging of a two-dimensional area sensor comprising photosensors or radiation sensors, an extrinsic line noise detection unit for detecting an extrinsic line noise in the image pick-up outputs stored in the memory circuit, and an arithmetic processing circuit for calculating an output quantity of the detected extrinsic line noise. The line noise is eliminated by correcting the image pick-up outputs on the basis of the obtained output quantity of the extrinsic line noise.

  • Patent number: 7855739
Abstract: In an image signal processing apparatus, line memories conventionally provided at a latter stage of the apparatus in order to convert a VGA image signal into a CIF image signal are eliminated. Image data of the VGA held in a unit of one line in plural line memories 60 provided in a digital signal processing circuit are weighted and added in a VLPF 62. A factor setting part 76 of the VLPF 62 changes weighting factors according to a positional relation between a position of a generation object line of the CIF and a line of the VGA. The weighting factors are determined so that a characteristic of trapping ½ of a vertical sampling frequency fv is also obtained. The VLPF 62 uses the weighting factors to trap fv/2, and changes the position of the vertical sampling point to a position of each line of the CIF image.
