  • Patent number: 6860176
Abstract: A wrench includes a box end which has a through hole and a polygonal inner periphery is defined in an inner periphery of the through hole and located close to a first side of the box end. A plain inner surface is defined in the inner periphery of the through hole and located close to a second side of the box end. An inner diameter of the plain inner periphery is larger than an inner diameter of the polygonal inner periphery. A spring member is engaged with the through hole of the box end and enclosed by the polygonal inner periphery. A nut can be engaged with the polygonal inner periphery by pressing the spring member and is rotated with the wrench, or is freely rotatably engaged with the plain inner surface while the spring member is not compressed.

  • Patent number: 6857343
Abstract: A threaded fastener holder holds a screw in place and then automatically disengages from the screw and withdraws axially in the proximal direction to permit the user to continue inserting the screw without interruption. The threaded fastener holder has a shaft having a distal end for selectively engaging with a head of a threaded fastener. An inner sleeve surrounds at least a portion of the shaft, and is axially movable with respect to the shaft. The inner sleeve has a plurality of spring fingers disposed at its distal end, each of which has a distal end that is radially movable so as to be selectively engageable with the head of the threaded fastener. A first end of a spring is fixed with respect to the inner sleeve. The second end of the spring is fixed with respect to the shaft. In the rest position, the distal end of the plurality of spring fingers is axially spaced from the distal end of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6848340
Abstract: A structural improvement of a wine bottle opener which includes a syringe, a needle, a cap, a slide jacket and a bottle holder. The syringe is a hollow tube-shaped object, in which a high-pressured Freon can is inserted. The needle is attached to the front end of the syringe, and the cap is attached to the rear. The syringe is then put into the slide jacket, which is a pipe-shaped object with its upper inside perimeter roughly equal to the outside perimeter of the syringe. The slide jacket broadens at the bottom and the inner wall is threaded in order to screw onto the bottle holder. The top of the screw cap has a hole, through which the Freon can inside the syringe can be pressed. The needle is composed of a base and a tube, whereas the base is geometrically shaped and has threads on parts of its surface, enabling the use of hand tools to screw on or off the base from the syringe.

  • Patent number: 6840142
Abstract: A socket wrench extension includes an elongated rod, a drive rod, a steel ball, a control knob, an elastic member, and a magnetic member. The screw member is inserted into the socket, and is attracted by the magnetic force of the magnetic member that is secured on the drive rod, so that the screw member is secured on the drive rod and is not detached from the socket, thereby facilitating the user using the elongated rod and the socket to operate the screw member. In addition, when the control knob is pressed, the drive rod and the magnetic member are fully retracted into the receiving chamber of the elongated rod, so that the screw member is detached from the magnetic member automatically.

  • Patent number: 6817271
Abstract: The invention relates to a wrench for use with drilling apparatus used for drilling holes in the ground with a drill bit comprising a drilling segment, extension segments and a distance piece which connects the drill bit to the apparatus. The drill bit segments are connected via complementary threads in a spigot and socket fashion and the wrench serves to loosen adjacent segments with respect to one another in order to accommodate the insertion or removal of extension segments. The wrench (10) comprises a gripping arm (12), defining a mouth formation locatable around a drill bit segment (26), and a lever (18) pivotally connected to the arm. The lever defines a wedge face (34) which, through initial displacement of the lever can urge the drill bit segment (26) into gripping engagement with opposing gripping formations (30) located on the gripping arm and through continued displacement can loosen the drill bit segment with respect to an adjacent segment.

  • Patent number: 6799492
Abstract: A ratchet wrench for turning threaded fasteners, particularly fasteners threaded on a stud or pipe located in areas of limited or obstructed access to the fastener. The wrench is operated remotely at an end of the wrench away from a fastener engagement portion. The wrench includes a side mounted actuator assembly which allows a moveable jaw to open and close around the fastener. A closing bias force is maintained on the movable upper jaw by a spring included in the actuator assembly. The closing bias force allows a fastener to be held in position for rotation and when exceeded, allows the movable upper jaw to ratchet around the fastener. The engagement portion of the wrench may be configured with either a hexagonal or dodecahedral shaped opening. When operatively engaged with the fastener, the wrench fully encompasses the fastener to limit slippage.
