Abstract: A viscous rubber composition consisting mainly of a non-polar rubber, polybutene and white carbon has high adhesion and excellent puncture-sealing properties. Pneumatic tires provided with a puncture-sealing layer formed of such a viscous rubber composition have a high resistance against the puncture due to foreign substances penetrated through the tire.
Abstract: In order to separate boards of wood or the like from one another in a stack, spacing strips are successively lifted from a hopper by a rising flight conveyor and are accumulated on a generally horizontal extension of that conveyor for consecutive pickup, at predetermined instants of an operating cycle of a stacker, by a transfer mechanism delivering each strip to a passing gripper on a continuously moving transport band overlying the stack. A vertically movable frame beneath the transport band, positioned above a stacking platform, carries a series of unloaders normally projecting into the path of the oncoming strips for dislodging them from their grippers and depositing them on a board already resting on the platform as part of a growing stack. The unloaders can be selectively deactivated to vary the number and/or the spacing of the strips deposited on the top of the stack.
Abstract: A hay handling device is mounted in a vehicle bed to load, carry, and unload large hay bales. A rugged frame of the device is securely held in the vehicle bed by brackets which release the frame in selective fashion to permit its removal. A horizontal support member which is pivoted to the frame carries a central spear which is adapted to penetrate a bale resting on the ground. The spear is secured to a small sleeve which is slidably mounted on an upright post so that the elevation of the spear can be adjusted in order to accommodate bales of various sizes and vehicle beds of different heights. Shorter spears are located on opposite sides of the central spear to cooperate in handling the hay bale. A power winch operates on the upright post to pivot the support member in a manner to raise a bale which the spears have penetrated.

A self-contained electric motor, hydraulic pump and oil reservoir are arranged on the base and connected by hydraulic lines to a control panel with control selectors adapted to be handled by the operator for selectively hydraulically actuating hydraulic cylinders in and connected to the booms and the horizontal boom nose and engine sling mounting shaft whereby an engine requiring repair may be readily disconnected from its motor mounts and transmission and so manipulated with precision and removed from a vehicle within the close confines of a stall in a repair shop and replaced when repaired or another engine installed.
Abstract: Apparatus for handling, transporting, and unrolling large cylindrical bales of hay, including a frame mountable in the box of a pickup truck or on its own wheels. Hydraulic controls and actuators are provided for pivoting a bale fork about a horizontal axis, and for spreading and drawing together a pair of arms making up the fork to grasp and release the bale axially. A lost motion mechanism is provided to permit the fork to move vertically, as a bale unrolls, although the hydraulically actuated portion of the fork remains motionless.
Abstract: Apparatus suited for the vertically superimposed parking of a pair of motor vehicles including at least a first platform mounted for pivoting between a loading-unloading position and a position which permits access to a storage area located beneath the platform. The apparatus is characterized by the platform being mounted for pivoting about a geometric axis oriented transversely of the platform and located so as to impart a balance-like equilibrium to the entire platform assembly.
Abstract: A mobile track tamping machine comprises a tamping tool assembly mounted on a carrier for vertical movement therewith and a drive for vertically moving the tamping tool assembly carrier. The tamping tool assembly includes three pairs of vibratory tamping tools spaced from each other in the direction of track elongation so that the pairs of tools may be immersed in three successive cribs. The tools of each pair are reciprocable in opposite directions towards and away from the elongated edges of adjacent ties wherebetween the cribs are defined. All tamping tools are vibrated by a common drive and drives are provided for reciprocating the tamping tools.

Abstract: A railway truck side bearing and more particularly an improved side bearing assembly utilizing elastomeric means disposed within multiple abutment channels to control railway freight vehicle hunting.
Abstract: A tire body of elastomeric material, terminating in two beads on opposite sides of its cavity, has a sole free of reinforcing cords carrying a tread on its outer surface and a belt of elastomeric material disposed either between the tread and the body or on the inner body surface. The belt has a stress/strain ratio at 20.degree. C and with 50% elongation which is at least 30% higher than the corresponding stress/strain ratio of the tire body.
Abstract: Robots or industrial automatons comprising each: standard modules assembled like a meccano construction, said modules being adapted to perform the requisite basic functions and comprising a module of translation, a module of rotation of 2 k .pi., a module of rotation of less than 2 k .pi., a member consisting for example of a head having several axes, said standard modules being interconnected by means of arms sawed to the desired length before assembling the component elements of the robots.
Abstract: A workpiece holder and feeder mountable on a rectangular base of a machine tool, comprises a pair of parallel cross-bars engagable with two opposed sides of the base, and a pair of angle bars fixed at the opposite ends of each cross-bar, each angle bar having a leg fixed to the respective cross-bar, and another leg engagable with the remaining two opposed sides of the base. A pair of parallel guide bars are fixed to the cross-bars parallel to the latter leg of the angle bars. The holder further includes a table for supporting the workpiece and slidable on the base between the guide bars towards the machine tool, a cable having one end fixed to one of the bars, a weight suspended from the opposite end of the cable, and a plurality of rollers engaging an intermediate portion of the cable such that the weight applies a continuous and uniform feeding force, as the weight lowers, to feed the table and the workpiece carried thereon towards the machine tool.
Abstract: An assembly securely mounted to a wheel of an automotive vehicle to provide continual availability of cleats to be fitted around the treads of a tire for use in driving an automotive vehicle through mud or snow. The assembly consists of a cylindrical plate with a series of round through holes for affixing to a range of automotive wheel configurations with elongated lug nuts and bolts, a series of L-shaped brackets securely affixed around the outside perimeter of the mounting plate, a spring-loaded telescoping shaft extending from each L-shaped bracket parallel to the outside of a vehicle tire, a cleat affixed on the outside end of each telescoping shaft, so that each cleat can be locked in position around the tire treads with the telescoping shaft in the telescoping position and with each cleat further being placed in a locked position near the side of the tire when the telescoping shaft is in a retracted position so as to be out of the way when not in use.
Abstract: A personal transportation system including a guideway of channel members submerged beneath the ground with an opening along the ground line, the guideway including an intersection, a rail running along the base of the channel members for supporting wheeled, passenger carrying vehicle thereon, and a steering system for selectively steering the vehicle through the intersection and into one of at least two guideway sections leading from the intersection.
