  • Patent number: 4926714
Abstract: A bicycle transmission has drive pedals connected through a pedal shaft disposed in a pedal shaft hub on a bicycle frame. The shaft is selectively engageable with a series of gear pawls which are positioned to selectively engage one of a series of gears disposed about the pedal shaft. The gears are selectively engaged with an output sprocket meshed to a rear wheel sprocket. The pedal shaft includes a series of angled slots therein, in which a cam follower pin is disposed. The cam follower includes an actuator arm to cause one of the gears to engage the pedal shaft. The slots are sized so that reverse pedal rotation will cause the cam follower to axially actuate about the pedal shaft to cause disengagement and engagment of the gears.

  • Patent number: 4924728
Abstract: A gear shift device for motor vehicles in which a fluid pressure production unit is arranged between a gear shift mechanism and a damper device and is connected directly with a drive input member. In the damper device for the gear shift device, the gear shift mechanism is connected through a first output member to the drive input member. The fluid pressure production unit is simultaneously connected to the input member through a second output member. Therefore, the torsional rigidity of the damper device can be set small enough to restrain the neutral noise associated with gear shift devices.

  • Patent number: 4924731
Abstract: An orifice is installed on an oil passage to a hydraulic servo for a direct clutch. In forward high speed running, a line pressure from the D range port of a manual valve is supplied to the hydraulic servo through an oil passage used for forward high speed running and a three way cock (non manual type). Then comparatively large amount of oil is supplied to the servo in accordance with the high speed running. In reverse running, the line pressure from the R range port of the manual valve is supplied to the servo through the orifice and the three way cock. Consequently, comparatively small amount of oil is supplied to the hydraulic servo.

  • Patent number: 4916977
Abstract: Automatic transmission including a main-transmission-mechanism consisting of two planetary gear units (three speed or four speed transmission mechanism for example) and a sub-transmission-mechanism consisting of one planetary gear unit (underdrive mechanism, for example). One speed and two speed for the whole transmission are obtained, with a low speed stage of the main-transmission-mechanism lower than two speed, by shifting the main-transmission-mechanism to one and two speed, respectively, while the sub-transmission-mechanism is kept at low speed (underdrive). And three speed for the whole transmission is obtained by shifting the sub-transmission-mechanism to high speed (direct coupling) while the main-transmission-mechanism is left at the two speed state. Further, four speed or five speed for the whole is obtained by shifting the main-transmission-mechanism to three speed or, if it is of four speed type, to four speed, respectively, while the sub-transmission-mechanism is kept at the high speed state.
