  • Patent number: 11272351
Abstract: Aspects directed towards steering of roaming (SoR) are disclosed. In one example, a communication from a public land mobile network (PLMN) is received by a user equipment (UE) in which the communication indicates an acceptance of a UE registration with the PLMN. This example further includes performing a determination of whether an SoR indicator associated with a home PLMN (HPLMN) is embedded within the communication. The UE then manages PLMN selection according to the determination. In another example, a UE is configured to operate according to an SoR configuration in which the UE is configured to ascertain whether an SoR indicator is embedded within a communication from a PLMN. An SoR indicator associated with an HPLMN is then generated and subsequently transmitted from the HPLMN to the UE via the PLMN.

  • Patent number: 11233620
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices can be utilized to schedule at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) transmission and at least one HARQ feedback message in the same Physical Resource Block (PRB). A HARQ transmission can be scheduled in a mini-slot of the PRB. Accordingly, latencies associated with transmitting and receiving the PRB can be reduced, while the high reliability of HARQ can be retained. Implementations can be applied to 5G technologies such as Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLCs) and enhanced Mobile BroadBand (eMBB), as well as other low-latency communications. A method can include determining a location of a device; selecting, based at least in part on the location of the device, a mini-slot size; scheduling, in one or more mini-slots having the mini-slot size in a PRB, a HARQ transmission; and transmitting, to the device, the HARQ transmission in the one or more mini-slots of the PRB.

  • Patent number: 11228939
Abstract: A computer implemented method for managing wireless bands and/or wireless channels comprises receiving information on connected local devices for a plurality of wireless routers, wherein the plurality of wireless routers are using a same wireless band and/or wireless channel, and wherein each connected local device for which information is received utilizes one or more of the plurality of wireless routers for a network connection. The method further comprises calculating, for each of the plurality of wireless routers, a congestion quotient from the received information on the connected local devices, wherein the congestion quotient defines a likelihood of destructive interference at each respective wireless router. The method further comprises determining changes in wireless band and/or wireless channel for one or more wireless routers of the plurality of wireless routers, wherein the changes lower the respective congestion quotients for each of the respective one or more wireless routers.

  • Patent number: 11206706
Abstract: In one example, a method and apparatus for web browsing on multihomed mobile devices having multiple communication interfaces are disclosed. In one example, the method establishes a primary multiple path transmission control protocol subflow for the transfer of a resource from a server to a user endpoint device. The method then determines a threshold of resource size. When the size of the resource is determined to exceed the threshold, the method establishes a secondary multipath transmission control protocol connection that cooperates with the primary multiple path transmission control protocol subflow for the transfer of the resource from the server to the user endpoint device.

  • Patent number: 11171826
Abstract: Sensor nodes each equipped with a directional antenna configured to form a set of beams of predefined directions, with respect to a global reference direction, during beam cycles timed according to a global time reference form a sensor network. An electronic compass determines the global reference direction and a Global-Positioning-System (GPS) receiver provides the global time reference. The directional antenna is implemented as a phased-array antenna. During each beam period within a beam cycle, a phased-array controller determines a phase vector as a function of the geometrical arrangement of antenna elements and angular displacement of a reference direction of a node from the global reference direction. The phase vector is supplied to phase shifters coupled to the antenna elements to form a beam of a specified direction. During each beam period, all sensor nodes form beams of a same direction thus guaranteeing inter-nodal communication among neighboring nodes.

  • Patent number: 11165671
Abstract: It is disclosed a method for performing a performance measurement on a packet flow transmitted along a path through a packet switched communication network. Two or more measurement points are implemented on the path. Each measurement point calculates a sampling signature for each received packet by applying a hash function to a mask of bits of the packet. Then, it selects a number of measurement samples amongst the received packets, the measurement samples being selected as those packets whose sampling signatures comprise a portion of length S equal to a predefined sampling value. While performing the selection, the measurement point counts the number of selected measurement samples and retroactively adjusts the length based on this number. Then, the measurement point provides measurement parameters relating to the selected measurement samples.

  • Patent number: 11128492
Abstract: An example network orchestrator includes processing circuitry and memory. Instructions of the memory, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the network orchestrator to receive an indication that a branch gateway has joined a SD-WAN. The instructions further cause the network orchestrator to determine, based on parameters of the branch gateway, a geographic location of the branch gateway. The instructions further cause the network orchestrator to select a set of headend gateways located in a region including the geographic location of the branch gateway. The instructions further cause the network orchestrator to calculate a suitability score for each headend gateway based on the geographic location of the branch gateway in comparison to a geographic location of the each headend gateway. The instructions further cause the network orchestrator to assign the branch gateway to a headend gateway of the set of headend gateways with an optimal suitability score.

  • Patent number: 11013041
Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for a Fifth Generation New Radio (5G NR) enhanced Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH). These techniques include a user device transmitting a request to a base station for a UE-specific PDCCH format. In aspects, the user device transmits an uplink Radio Resource Control (RRC) message or a Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE). The base station can then grant the user device a particular PDCCH format, based on the request, by using downlink RRC messages or a MAC CE. This allows the user device to identify the UE-specific PDCCH format and an appropriate aggregation level with which to decode messages on the PDCCH. These techniques reduce the amount of power consumed when decoding the messages on PDCCH in comparison to conventional techniques that rely on blind decoding.

  • Patent number: 11013040
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for identifying transitory WiFi users and providing a differential treatment of such users in terms of delaying associating steps between user stations (STAs) and an access point (AP). A transitory user refers to a user or user device that connects to a WiFi AP but does not run applications that require association or assigning IP addresses, such as short-term or temporary connected WiFi users that are on the move. In an embodiment, a STA connects to an AP. Upon the STA indicating its transitory behavior to the AP or the AP detecting criteria of transitory behavior of the STA, the STA obtains a delay time value from the AP. The STA then delays sending an association request to the AP, or alternatively, the AP delays handling the association request from the STA in accordance with the delay time value.

  • Patent number: 10999220
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a novel architecture for capturing contextual attributes on host computers that execute one or more machines and providing the captured contextual attributes to middlebox service engines executing at the edge of a physical datacenter. In some embodiments, the middlebox service engines run in an edge host (e.g., an NSX Edge) that provides routing services and connectivity to external networks (e.g., networks external to an NSX-T deployment). Some embodiments execute a context header insertion processor that receives contextual attributes relating to network events and/or process events on the machines collected using a guest-introspection (GI) agent on each machine. In some embodiments, the context header insertion processor uses these contextual attributes to generate a header including data regarding the contextual attributes (a “context header”) that is used to encapsulate a data message that is processed by the SFE.
