  • Patent number: 10659188
Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for efficiently performing rate selection and transmit gain selection are provided. The techniques may be performed, for example, by a transmitting entity in the absence of explicit MCS selection reporting by a receiving entity. One technique includes outputting first packets for transmission using a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value and via a transmit power amplifier (PA) configured according to a transmit gain parameter associated with the first MCS value. Feedback indicating whether the first packets have been received is obtained, a second MCS value for second packets is selected based on the feedback, and the transmit gain parameter is adjusted if one or more criteria are met. Second packets are output for transmission using the second MCS value and, thereafter, additional packets are output for transmission based on the first MCS value and the adjusted transmit gain parameter.

  • Patent number: 10637782
Abstract: An approach is provided whereby multiple broadband connections operate together to provide a highly available secure private networking solution. Data packets of a communications flow are received by a networking device, for transmission to a remote destination node, over a wide area data communications network. A service classification is determined for the data flow. A sequence number is generated for each data packet, where the sequence numbers indicate an order by which the data packets are received. An indication of the service classification and the sequence number is added to each data packet. For each data packet, a transport policy is determined that indicates one or more VPN tunnels through which the data packet is to be transmitted, where the determination of the VPN tunnels is based on the service classification, and wherein each VPN tunnel is carried over a respective WAN transport of the wide area data network.

  • Patent number: 10623088
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing end-to-end beamforming. For example, end-to-end beamforming systems include end-to-end relays and ground networks to provide communications to user terminals located in user beam coverage areas. The ground segment can include geographically distributed access nodes and a central processing system. Return uplink signals, transmitted from the user terminals, have multipath induced by a plurality of receive/transmit signal paths in the end to end relay and are relayed to the ground network. The ground network, using beamformers, recovers user data streams transmitted by the user terminals from return downlink signals. The ground network, using beamformers generates forward uplink signals from appropriately weighted combinations of user data streams that, after relay by the end-end-end relay, produce forward downlink signals that combine to form user beams.

  • Patent number: 10567442
Abstract: An automated registration service supported on an application server that interoperates with an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) core network is configured to dynamically register and deregister devices that are all associated with one or more commonly-utilized phone numbers. The service may assign the phone number to registered devices and, in contrast, un-assign the phone number from deregistered devices. The registration and deregistration of the devices may occur based on the amount of interaction with the device and other real-time contextual information. Furthermore, the automated registration service intelligently determines which registered devices to forward incoming video and/or audio calls to based on various contextual information, including the capabilities of device, identified location of a user, user preferences, etc. By intelligently selecting which devices should receive an incoming call, unnecessary use of bandwidth, data, and resources (e.g., battery power) can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 10548118
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Data may be received during transmission time intervals (TTIs) that have a short duration relative to other TTIs. The short-duration TTIs may occur within or overlap a longer duration TTI, such as a subframe. Feedback responsive to the data may be generated and assigned for transmission during an uplink TTI according to a feedback timing or delay, which may be selected to reduce latency or balance the payload size of uplink messages sent during the assigned uplink TTI. Data and feedback assignments in short-duration TTIs may be configured based on a time division duplexing (TDD) configuration for some TTIs (e.g., subframes). TTIs that are a Long Term Evolution (LTE) subframe, an LTE slot, and a duration of two LTE symbol periods may be supported. Portions of special TTIs may be used for transmissions according to shorter-duration TTIs.

  • Patent number: 10534601
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for performing an In-Service Software Upgrade (“ISSU”) of a first packet forwarding component (PFC) of a virtual router configured to forward traffic flows for a plurality of session instances within a cloud-based data center. The techniques described herein may retain flow state information throughout the ISSU process without interrupting network traffic flow. In one example, a processor of a plurality of compute nodes within the data center receives a request to perform an ISSU of the first PFC. The processor spawns a second virtual routing agent and a second PFC. The second virtual routing agent synchronizes flow state information with a first virtual routing agent for the virtual router. After synchronizing the flow state information, the virtual router switches from forwarding traffic flows by the first PFC to forwarding traffic flows by the second PFC. The ISSU process deactivates the first virtual router and the first PFC.
