  • Patent number: 10893413
Abstract: Examples pertaining to user equipment (UE) key derivation at mobility update in mobile communications are described. An apparatus implemented in a UE conducts a registration with a first Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) of a network. The apparatus also conducts one other registration with a second AMF of the network over a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3 GPP) access. In response, the apparatus receives a request from the second AMF over the 3 GPP access. The apparatus then performs a key derivation to generate a derived key using a keying material from the initial registration with the first AMF to result in the UE and the second AMF sharing a common security context for the 3 GPP access and a non-3 GPP access.

  • Patent number: 10887779
Abstract: This spectrum protection system enables spectrum sharing that protects Earth Exploration-Satellite Services (EESS) observations, which allows for uninterrupted weather forecasting, from terrestrial operations that operate near or within EESS frequency bands without cumbersome restrictions on telecommunications (telecom) providers. The system calculates the satellite observation times using a device's location recognizing that these satellites are only observing a particular location on Earth for a very small amount of time because of their orbital dynamics and scanning characteristics. Using this calculated list of observation times and comparing it to the current time input, the system then enacts a mechanism for action when EESS observations are occurring. Two simple embodiments for the mechanism for action include momentarily changing frequencies or reducing transmission power levels to prevent erroneous EESS measurements.

  • Patent number: 10880843
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for optimizing an edge-user experience in a first access technology based on dynamic antenna power modifications. In embodiments, when a large volume of UE are located in a particular edge-region of a sector of a cell site, the power supplied to one or more corresponding antenna elements may be reduced or stopped in order to reduce the coverage area of the first access technology and cause a portion of the UE to shift to a second access technology at the cell site. By lowering the volume of UE that are located in a particular edge-region of a sector of a cell site, the remaining portion of the UE that are located in a particular edge-region of a sector of a cell site experience improved throughput.

  • Patent number: 10868896
Abstract: An electronic device includes a first device housing and a second device housing. A hinge couples the first device housing to the second device housing. The first device housing is pivotable about the hinge relative to the second device housing. The hinge separates a first chamber defined by the first device housing and a second chamber defined by the second device housing. A flexible substrate passes through the first chamber and the second chamber. The flexible substrate spans the hinge, either by passing through or around a hinge housing. The flexible substrate deforms to a curvilinear deformed state within one or both of the first chamber or the second chamber when the first device housing and the second device housing pivot about the hinge from a closed position to an axially displaced open position.
