Abstract: Items, such as produce items, may be placed in containers, imaged, weighed, and stored for subsequent retrieval. Images that depict the items and attributes associated with the items may be presented to customers via an interface. Upon receiving an indication that a customer has purchased one or more items via the interface, a container that includes the one or more items is retrieved. The one or more items are removed from the container and packaged for delivery to the customer. The resulting empty container is refilled with new items, which are then imaged, weighed, and stored.

Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and associated method to perform an adaptive risk-based assessment of a user is disclosed. A method includes receiving a request from a user to perform an action at an electronic marketplace, retrieving a plurality of risk assessment factors associated with the action and the user, performing a risk assessment process on the risk assessment factors to identify a risk mitigation process, requesting that the user perform the identified risk mitigation process, and allowing the user to perform the action in response to the user completing the risk mitigation.

Abstract: The optimization of fulfillment option benefits is described. In one example, selected offers for items are assembled for a transaction. A fulfillment option benefit, such as a delivery or shipping benefit, is identified for a first one of the items. A system determines whether an offer for a second one of the items contributes to qualification for the same fulfillment option benefit. When the offer for the second item does not contribute, the system searches for any other second item offers that do contribute to qualification for the benefit. If multiple other offers are found, the system ranks the other offers to identify a preferred other offer for the second item. The system then calculates a difference between the originally-selected offer and the preferred offer for the second item and generates a qualification contribution notification that highlights the preferred other offer as contributing to the fulfillment option benefit.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for detecting customer presence to initiate the ordering and purchase of goods and services are disclosed. In one example, a system includes a detection server configured to detect the presence of a mobile device in a designated area associated with a merchant location and for initiating a menu selection application in the mobile device for placing an order for at least one product. The system further includes a merchant server configured to receive, from the mobile device, purchase order data associated with the order for the at least one product, a customer identifier associated with the mobile device, and a location identifier associated with the designated area, and for utilizing the customer identifier to send a notification message that indicates that the at least one product is available to the mobile device.

Abstract: Included is a method for providing a customized product recommendation to a user. Information is collected from a user regarding a type of shaving stroke the user takes when shaving. The information collected from the user is analyzed. A product for the user is selected from at least two available products based upon the information collected from the user. The selected product is recommended to the user.

Abstract: It is an object to allow, even if an item selected by a user cannot be shipped to its destination, the user to order another item without wasting the effort spent in selecting the item. An information processing device receives selection of an item for order. The information processing device obtains a destination specified for the selected item. If the specified destination is outside the area to which the selected item can be shipped, the information processing device causes substitute information to be displayed. The substitute information can identify a substitute item that can be shipped to the destination.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for providing item information via a network page of an electronic marketplace. A set of items associated with a potential order of an electronic marketplace may be obtained. The set of items may be associated with a threshold condition that must be met prior to enabling completion of the potential order. Item information associated with the set of items, electronic representations of a portion of a plurality of related items, and a remainder value may be displayed on a network page provided by a mobile device. The remainder value may indicate a difference between a current state of the set of items and the threshold condition. A request to associate a related item of the plurality of related items with the potential order may be received. The set of items may be updated and the remainder value may be modified based on the update.

Abstract: A method for issuing digital credentials can include assigning a digital credential to a user account maintained by the digital content delivery system; receiving, from a mobile computing device associated with the user account, a first request for the digital credential; in response to receiving the first request: determining whether a current location of the mobile computing device is within a predetermined geographic distance of the selected exhibitor location, and determining whether a remaining amount of time until a scheduled start time of the selected scheduled presentation is less than a threshold amount of time; and in response to determining that either the current location of the mobile computing device is outside of the predetermined geographic distance of the selected exhibitor location or the remaining amount of time until the scheduled start time of the selected scheduled presentation is greater than the threshold amount of time, denying the first request.

The recommendation method comprises: identifying at least one core user of a network service provider and a set of users who have demonstrated one or more network-related behaviors with respect to a first predetermined association item; sampling the set of users to identify a set of sample users; calculating a similarity between the sample users to identify a list of similar users; and sending a recommendation of potential users to a network service provider, the recommendation of potential users based on the list of similar users and the at least one core user of a network service provider. Potential users may be efficiently recommended to a network service provider.

Abstract: A method of operating a price estimation system includes obtaining service requests from consumers, and obtaining bids from service professionals based on the service requests obtained from the consumers. The method additionally includes generating a training set based on the bids and the service requests, and generating a model for generating price estimates based on the training set. The method also includes employing the model to generate the price estimates based on additional service requests provided by additional consumers. In some aspects, the method further includes communicating the price estimates to the additional consumers during performance of a process for obtaining the additional service requests from the additional consumers. In other aspects, the method further includes communicating the price estimates to additional service professionals during performance of a process for obtaining additional bids from the additional service professionals based on the additional service requests.

The courier may receive a notification to check the order when the courier arrives at the merchant's location.

Abstract: Techniques for updating content created for a third party user are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method for updating content comprises receiving information for an item associated with a third party user, requesting a search including information for a plurality of items offered for purchase, the search request being based on the received information for the at least one item, and updating content for the third party user with one of the items included in the list of items received in response to the search request. Information for the item associated with the third party user may be received from a list of items associated with the third party user and maintained by the third party user or from a content source associated with an entity other than the third party user.

Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and an associated method to retrieve information related to marketplace items within an electronic environment are disclosed. A network architecture comprises a listing module to store the information related to the marketplace items. The related information includes one or more user-created items such as an image of a model with one or more tagged items worn by the model. Each of the one or more tagged items has associated descriptive metadata. A communications module is arranged to receive a query including search terms related to social fashion items from an end-user. A query engine is coupled to the communications module to match the search terms contained within the query to the associated descriptive metadata of the tagged items in the listing module. A processing module then displays to the end-user the model and the one or more tagged items.

Abstract: Implementations for recovering e-commerce orders are described herein. An e-commerce order is submitted to an order processing system, by an order check-out module of an online transaction system. The e-commerce order includes order information that is provided to the order check-out module by a client device. The check-out module determines that the order processing is delayed or failed and, based at least on a status of the order processing being delayed or failed, initiates an order recovery action to be performed by an order recovery engine. Once the order recovery action is initiated, the order check-out module is made available to handle a new order.

Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and associated method perform a search for a plurality of items in an electronic environment. In one embodiment, the system includes a keyword prompt engine to receive a plurality of keywords from an end-user. Each of the plurality of keywords is related to the plurality of items for which the end-user is searching. A price range engine prompts the end-user to input a price range for each of the plurality of items. A search engine uses one or more processors to locate the plurality of items in an inventory within the electronic environment based on the plurality of keywords and the price range. The search engine further matches concurrently one or more sellers having the plurality of items available for sale.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for processing an online transaction to purchase a set of products. In response to receiving a request to process a transaction to purchase the set of products, an On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) system retrieves data from a corresponding database record that defines the set of products being purchased. The database record may also define a seller, a supplier, and a merchant for each product. For each product having the seller as the merchant, the OLTP determines a form of payment to be used to pay the supplier of the product based on rules governing forms of payment retrieved from a payment rules database. When the forms of payment have been determined, the OLTP system may add data to the database record that identifies the form of payment used to pay the supplier for each product in the record.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described that enable crowdsourcing of product-related information. Product-related information may include availability and intra-store locations of various products at particular stores. An example system includes an interface, a memory, and one or more programmable processors configured to receive, at the interface an intra-store product location from a first client device, the intra-store product location indicating a location of a product within a store. The programmable processor(s) are further configured to store, to at least one storage device coupled to the system and in association with the product, the received intra-store product location, receive, at the interface, a request associated with the product from a second client device, and send, from the interface, the intra-store product location to the second client device in response to receiving the request associated with the product.
