Abstract: Methods and systems for recording, tracking, and analyzing digital software usage in a distributed database that is used by multiple participants are described herein. A single usage event may occur, and may be identified by a client device. The usage event may be emitted to one or more nodes, which may include an aggregator node and/or one or more validator nodes. A block in a distributed database may be created to record the usage event. A mixed-mode mechanism may be used by one or more devices to validate the usage event.

Abstract: A federated database-management system receives an SQL query or other type of data-access request. The federated system's host DBMS parses, rewrites, and optimizes the request into an optimal data-access plan, then determines which portions of the plan require access to data stored on the federated systems' remote databases. The federated host partitions the plan into subplans that each represent instructions of the original data-access request that were directed to a corresponding remote database of the federated DBMS. Each subplan is then transmitted to its corresponding remote database, which directly executes the subplan and returns results to the host. If necessary, a subplan is translated from an original generic access-plan format into a database-specific format required by its corresponding remote database.

Abstract: Described herein are mechanisms to allow users to access functionality of applications in a suite of applications. In a first aspect, when a query relating to functionality of an application is received from a user, an index containing both top-level and sub-level functionality is searched. Results are ranked using a trained machine learning model using both context describing user interactions and the search results. A subset of the ranked results are presented to the user as options. In a second aspect the index can comprise entries describing functionality from other applications so that results presented to the user can include cross-application functionality. In a third aspect, the index can be searched using the context prior to receiving a query and adjusting the user interface based on the results. In a fourth aspect, the system can recommend other applications and/or devices that are better suited to a user's intent.

Abstract: Aspects of the technology described herein are directed towards, among other things, identifying a country(s) likely intended in association with a query. In embodiments, a query is analyzed to identify a set of place entities that each indicate a specific location and a set of location labels that each indicate an aspect of a location. Additionally, map view data is analyzed to identify a set of location candidates that each indicate a country presented within a map view. The map view data indicates at least a portion of a boundary of the map view. Thereafter, a machine learned model is used to identify a set of countries likely to be intended in association with the query based on the set of place entities, the set of location labels, and the set of location candidates. The set of countries can be provided for use in identifying information related to the query.

Abstract: A plurality of images are received from one or more social media platforms associated with a user. For a selected image of the plurality of images, a plurality of text descriptions are generated. The plurality of text descriptions are computer-generated captions that describe features of the selected image of the plurality of images. The plurality of text descriptions are processed through a natural language processing model. Based on processing, a plurality of interest contexts are derived from the plurality of text descriptions. A mapping of each of the plurality of interest contexts to one or more predefined categories associated with an online marketplace is generated. Based the mapping of each of the plurality of interest contexts to the one or more predefined categories, a user device associated with the user is caused to display an app page or web page associated with the one or more predefined categories.

Abstract: A datacenter management system uses data collection proxies to collect performance data and configuration data for different physical and virtual entities in the datacenter. A schema is used to represent the different entities, entity relationships, and entity properties in the datacenter. A search engine identifies the intent of a natural language based search query based on the schema and a datacenter dictionary. The search engine then searches the data based on the search query intent. A dictionary manager converts both periodic and aperiodic data into a time series. This allows the search engine to operate as a time machine identifying both performance data and configuration data for any selectable time period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for reducing latency for providing a user feed containing one or more posts. One method includes operations for receiving a request to access the user feed and for performing a first query to search posts. The first query uses a first time horizon delimiting a creation time of posts and a first maximum number of posts selected for ranking. The posts from the first query are sent to the client device for presentation on a user interface. Further, a second query is performed to search posts, where the second query uses a second time horizon that is greater than the first time horizon and a second maximum number of posts for ranking that is greater than the first maximum number of posts. The posts from the first query and the second query are merged and sent to the client device for presentation.

Abstract: Techniques for reducing CPU consumption in a federated search are disclosed. In some example embodiments, a computer-implemented method comprises determining an initial search scope by selecting a subset of searchable resources from a plurality of searchable resources based on interaction data of a user, with the initial search scope being defined by the selected subset of searchable resources, and the interaction data indicating online activity of the user directed towards past search results of past search queries submitted by the user. A federated search for a current search query is then performed using the initial search scope, with the federated search for the current search query being restricted to only the subset of searchable resources, and current search results for the current search query are generated based on the performing of the federated search.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide for cleansing data generated by one or more servers in response to database interactions resulting from an automated software robot interacting with the one or more servers via a telecommunications network. The search system includes a partial similarity calculation unit that calculates a degree of partial similarity which is the degree of similarity concerning some of one or more dimensions of the input vector and the registered vector, a limit calculation unit that calculates, on the basis of the degree of partial similarity, an upper limit of the degree of similarity that is expected when the degree of similarity is calculated, and a rejection decision unit that decides, on the basis of the upper limit of the degree of similarity, whether or not to reject the registered vector from a candidate for a search result.

Abstract: A replicated database can be provisioned that provides primary and secondary replicas that can be provisioned in different data zones or geographical locations. The database can be installed on the primary replica, and both the primary and secondary replica can have installed a block level replication mechanism that allows any I/O operation to be replicated by between the primary and secondary replicas. Any failure or outage of the primary replica can be addressed by performing a failover operation to the secondary replica. A DNS name or other such approach can be used such that the name can be aliased to the secondary replica during a failover, such that there is no action needed on the part of the customer to utilize the “new” primary replica. The creation of the database and provisioning of the replicated instance can be initiated using a Web service call to a control environment.
