  • Patent number: 6032898
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a web from a roll of paper includes a housing and a cover connected thereto to provide access to the housing interior. The dispenser has mechanism for supporting a paper roll and a drive roller and tension roller operatively associated therewith which urges paper from the paper roll into contact with the drive roller for dispensing a length of paper from the paper roll. Actuator mechanism operates the drive roller and extends across substantially the entire housing at the bottom thereof. A roller frame assembly is mounted within the housing and carries the tension roller and a transfer roller. The transfer roller releasably holds the free end of a first paper roll while paper from the second roll is dispensed upon actuation of the actuator to rotate the drive roller.

  • Patent number: 5961021
Abstract: An ampule separator which can efficiently cut off ampules from a strip of series-connected plastic ampules. A strip of series-connected plastic ampule is put in a stocker having an outlet at its bottom, with the individual ampules arranged horizontally. A pair of horizontally arranged rotors are provided under the outlet of the stocker. Each rotor is formed, in its outer peripheral surface, with a groove in which the body of a plastic ampule can be partially received. As the rotors are rotated, the lowermost one of the plastic ampules is received in the grooves. As the rotors are rotated further, the ampule in the grooves is pushed down and cut off along a cutoff line formed between this and the immediately upper ampules by the rear edges of the grooves, with the upper ampules supported on cylindrical outer surfaces of the rotors.

  • Patent number: 5950514
Abstract: Supplemental guards are pivotally mounted on opposite sides of a conventional saw blade housing associated with miter saws. The supplemental blade guards are mounted so as to normally extend outwardly beyond the cutting blade whenever a miter saw blade is not engaged with a workpiece. The supplemental guards are positively guided as they are pivoted relative to the saw blade by contact with a workpiece as the miter saw blade is lowered to a cutting position.

  • Patent number: 5950511
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for handling printed products by making an edge cut with the aid of a cutter. The printed products in this case are supplied to the cutter by grippers that circulate along a first conveying loop, and the edge area to be cut on the printed products positioned in the grippers is stabilized by clamping braces that can be placed against the printed products in the range of the cutter. After the edge cut is made, the printed products with the grippers are disengaged from the clamping braces and discharged.

  • Patent number: 5947360
Abstract: A cutting blade for cutting sheet materials such as plastic film or metal foil is provided. The cutting blade incorporates a row of cutting teeth (50) projecting from a flat surface between the surface's folded edges. The depth of cut of the cutting blade is limited by the height that the cutting teeth project from the flat surface. In addition, by spacing the cutting teeth sufficiently closely together, the cutting teeth provide a bearing surface sufficient to support human skin so that the cutting blade cuts plastic film and metal foil but does not easily puncture human skin.

  • Patent number: 5943932
Abstract: A bevel table saw 10 comprising a table 14 supported by a frame 12, the table 14 defining a slot 16 for a saw blade 44, and a blade assembly 30 mounted to the frame 12 below the table 14 such that, in use, a saw blade 44 of the blade assembly 30 protrudes through the slot 16 to cut workpieces on the table 14, wherein the depth of cut of the saw blade 44 is adjusted automatically when bevel cuts are made in a workpiece. As a result, clashing of the blade assembly 30 with the underside of the table 14 or he frame 12 is automatically avoided, thereby simplifying se of the table saw 10 during the making of bevel cuts.

  • Patent number: 5933963
Abstract: A tube saw has a housing body with a first side, a second side, and a central opening. Surfaces of the first and second sides are machined parallel to each other. A cutter with a rotating blade is mounted on the first side and a vice is mounted on the second side to thereby maintain a work piece held in the vise perpendicular to the cutter. An indicator pin and viewing hole facilitate aligning a work piece within the saw so that the blade will cut the work piece where desired.

  • Patent number: 5933962
Abstract: A detachable oscillating unit is provided which converts a conventional wet shave razor, such as a disposable razor, into an oscillating wet shave razor. The oscillating unit includes a body forming a hollow interior cavity and a pair of attachment members which are fixed to the body for removably attaching the body to the handle of the razor. The attachment members form a longitudinal channel which receives the handle therein and the handle is resiliently clamped or gripped therebetween. The oscillating unit also includes an electric motor mounted within the hollow interior cavity which has a rotatable shaft extending therefrom, an eccentric weight connected to the shaft and disposed within the hollow cavity, and a battery operatively connected to the motor. The motor rotates the eccentric weight to provide a vibration signal which is transmitted from the motor, through the body and the attachment members, to the handle of the razor where it is transmitted to a cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 5931073
Abstract: A radial arm saw apparatus is provided with a bevel angle adjustment used in combination with a miter angle adjustment. The saw motor is mounted on a rigid vertical mounting plate. The mounting plate is tiltably supported on a rigid vertical support panel that is connected to the translatory radial arm mechanism so that the motor tilt or bevel angle is adjustable. The connection between the mounting plate and the support panel includes an elongate linkage arm pivotally connected at one end to the mounting plate and at another end to the support panel. A horizontal guide pin fixed to the mounting plate extends through a curvilinear guide slot in the panel to operate in cooperation with the linkage arm to always maintain the bottom horizontal tangent of the saw blade in a common vertical plane regardless of the tilt or bevel angle of the motor. An automatic mechanism for maintaining the tangent at a preset elevation regardless of bevel angle is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5927857
Abstract: An adjustable rip fence for a machine tool has a fence which is movable with respect to the cutting tool due to a rack and pinion. The rail assembly supporting the fence include a pair of stationary rails which are secure to the machine tool. A movable rail telescopically engages each stationary rail and the movement of each rail is accomplished by the rotation of a pair of pinion gears each of which engages a respective rack on the movable rails. The simultaneous rotation of the pinion gears is the result of both pinion gears being secured to a common pinion shaft which is rotatably secured to the machine tool. The telescoping nature of the rails allows for adjustment of the fence beyond the working surface of the machine tool.

  • Patent number: 5918517
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting any one of blocks and panels of cellular plastics into various shapes. The cellular plastic is held on a stationary platform around which a movable frame is affixed to two slides. The movable frame moves on two horizontal rails to effect cutting in the x-direction. Cutting is done with a hot wire affixed to two slides which move together vertically on vertical rails along the moveable frame to effect cutting in the y-direction. Stepping motors are driven by a computer to provide for displacement of the hot wire. Each motor includes a pinion which is mounted on a shaft directly engaging gear-racks parallel to the rails, to effect cutting of various shapes defined by the equation y=f(x).

  • Patent number: 5916346
Abstract: A polyurethane layer is bonded to a sheet metal liner and secured to an anvil roller channel by depending interlocking male and female locking members at the respective blanket ends. The female locking member comprises a U-shaped channel member formed from the liner. The channel member has an extension formed of doubled over sheet material with an inclined lip for engaging the anvil channel in resilient interference fit in cooperation with a distal channel member side wall. The channel member is filled with the layer material as the layer is formed to form a solid female member and has a lateral side wall from which a locking projection extends for locking engagement with a mating recess in the male member. A wedge projection projects from a face of the male member contiguous with the outer blanket surface. The wedge projection extends from the blanket outer surface an extent smaller than the blanket layer thickness to minimize insertion load on the male member due to interference with the female member.
