  • Patent number: 9692677
Abstract: Multicast link trace Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) is implemented in an Ethernet network by causing nodes on the network which perform Reverse Path Forwarding Check (RPFC) based on packet Source Address (SA) to not update the packet SA when updating the content of the CFM message. Alternatively multicast CFM is implemented by causing nodes on the network to update the packet SA when the content of the CFM message is updated, but cause a secondary RPFC process to be implemented by a control process in connection with processing the CFM message. The secondary RPFC process is based on a combination of source and content contained in the payload of the CFM message.

  • Patent number: 9692569
Abstract: Among other advantageous aspects, the teachings herein provide network-side and device-side apparatuses and methods that preserve normal Resource Element (RE) aggregation levels for the transmission of Enhanced Physical Downlink Control Channels (EPDCCHs) in “constrained” subframes, where “constrained” refers to any subframe having fewer REs available for EPDCCH usage within a base set of PRB pairs than are available in a “non-constrained” or “normal” subframe. Non-limiting examples of “constrained” subframes include special subframes in Time Division Duplex, TDD, operation, which comprise a downlink portion that is abbreviated to accommodate an included uplink portion, along with a guard portion between them. Multimedia Broadcast Single Frequency Network, MBSFN, subframes represent another example of a constrained subframe, where only the first two OFDM symbols within the subframe are available for EPDCCH transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9692906
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques for providing enhanced services to telephone subscribers with multiple telephone lines, which can include one or more traditional telephone lines, wireless telephone lines, Internet protocol-based telephone lines, and/or the like. For example, certain tools can provide a subscriber with a unified voice mailbox for a plurality of the subscriber's telephone lines. In some cases, the subscriber does not need to check multiple voice mailboxes (each associated with one of the subscriber's telephone numbers) in order to ensure that the subscriber has received all messages intended for that subscriber. Instead, any incoming call on any of the subscriber's lines can be routed to a converged voice mailbox for easy retrieval by the subscriber of all messages from one location. Some tools employ a VoIP switch to handle routing of the incoming call to the correct voice mailbox.

  • Patent number: 9686808
Abstract: Described herein are techniques for providing centrally managed Wi-Fi using internet protocol (IP) connections between a central Wi-Fi access gateway and one or more radio nodes. The Wi-Fi access gateway establishes an IP connection with a radio node across a wide area network, wherein the radio node is configured to wirelessly connect to one or more Wi-Fi devices located near the radio node. The Wi-Fi access gateway receives Layer 2 data traffic over the IP connection, wherein the Layer 2 data traffic is associated with a Wi-Fi device from the one or more Wi-Fi devices connected to the radio node. The Wi-Fi access gateway controls one or more Wi-Fi services for the Wi-Fi device based on the Layer 2 data traffic so that the Wi-Fi access gateway can provide centrally managed Wi-Fi for the Wi-Fi device.

  • Patent number: 9642080
Abstract: Inter-carrier scanning is triggered in a mobile device based at least in part on location thereof. Femto access point (AP) that can serve the mobile device can determine location through cell or sector identifier that is extracted via scan(s) of macro wireless environment of the femto AP. Femto AP can rank extracted sector identifier(s) and establish home macro sector (HMS) identifier(s), and also can generate scanning requirements for idle-mode scan(s) by a mobile device that operates in a HMS and is authorized to access wireless coverage through the femto AP. Scanning requirement(s) can force periodic inter-carrier measurements of a HMS wireless environment, and establish HMS-specific radio link quality threshold(s). Wireless network can receive at least one of HMS identifier(s) and scanning requirement(s) and deliver same to mobile device(s) authorized to exploit wireless coverage through femto AP associated with the HMS ID(s) and the scanning requirement(s).
