  • Patent number: 9690036
Abstract: In some examples, a lighting apparatus includes a light guiding component having a light absorbing material disposed on at least one surface. The light absorbing material may be selected to have light absorbing properties to compensate for variations in the color of portions of light emitted by a light source. For instance, the color of the light absorbing material may be generally complimentary to an undesirable color of a portion of the emitted light. Consequently, by reflecting the portion of light off the light absorbing material, the undesirable color may be absorbed from the portion of the light so that the resulting light is of a more uniform color. This disclosure also describes techniques for assembling electronic devices in a component stack to provide enhanced display lighting uniformity.

  • Patent number: 9680076
Abstract: An LED chip (3) is disposed in a recessed portion (21p) formed by bending a metal lead frame (2). A reflector (4) has a resin reflection surface (4a) and the recessed portion (21p) has a metal reflection surface (21a). When the inclination angle of at least one metal reflection surface (21a) is ?s2(°), the resin reflection surface (4a) has a sloped resin surface with an inclination angle of ?s1(°) that is smaller than ?s2(°). With ?c(°) defined as the critical angle of light emitted from an LED chip (3) and incident on the interface between a light-transmissive resin (5) and an air layer, the sloped resin surface and metal reflection surface having a relationship of ?s1<?s2, satisfies both a conditional expression (1): 45°??c/2<?s1<?c and a conditional expression (2): 35°??s2?55°.
