Patent number: 11416444Abstract: A method and system for replicating file system entities in a manner that preserves block-level access and file system efficiency mechanisms such as deduplication are disclosed. In an embodiment, a replication engine receives a stream of file system entities that include a file system inodes and file system data blocks. The replication engine generates object-based storage (OBS) objects based on data and reference information specified by the file system entities. As part of generating the OBS objects, the replication engine generates at least one inode file object that associates file block numbers of a file system inode file and the inode numbers. The replication engine uses inode information to generate reference objects that logically associate file block numbers with data block numbers in per inode manner. The replication engine further generates data objects that contains the file system data blocks and that associates the data blocks with corresponding data block numbers.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2016Date of Patent: August 16, 2022Assignee: NETAPP, INC.Inventors: Sisir Shekhar, Michael R. Patent number: 11366821Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices supporting epsilon (?)-closure for frequent pattern (FP) analysis are described. Some database systems may analyze data sets to determine FPs. In some cases, the FP set may include a large number of semi-redundant patterns, resulting in significant memory or processing overhead. To reduce the redundancy of these patterns, the database system may implement pre-configured or dynamic threshold occurrence differences (e.g., ? values) to test against related patterns. For example, the database system may calculate the difference between the data objects covered by a sub-pattern and a super-pattern (e.g., where the super-pattern includes all the same data attributes of the sub-pattern, plus one additional attribute). This difference may be compared to a corresponding ? value, and if the difference is less than the ? value, the database system may remove one of the patterns (e.g., the sub-pattern) from the set of valid FPs to limit redundancy.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2018Date of Patent: June 21, 2022Assignee: salesforce.com, inc.Inventors: Yacov Salomon, Kexin Xie

Patent number: 11347783Abstract: A schema-ontology is automatically constructed with reference to implicit sematic relationships of a database schema. An estimation of the meaning of the language input is determined based on the language input and the schema-ontology. The machine interpretation of the language input is generated based on the meaning and based on the estimation of the meaning including an estimation of an ambiguity of portions of the language input. A software action that is responsive to the machine interpretation of the language input is selected. The software action is implemented based on the machine interpretation of the language input.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2020Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: William Kraus, Jeremy Ashley, Jatin Thaker

Patent number: 11250371Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to managing process analytics across process components. In some embodiments, an indication of a state of a process instance associated with a process is determined by querying a process engine. In accordance with the indication of the state of the process instance, an augmented process model is used to search machine data for data corresponding with at least one component of the process. The data corresponding with the at least one component of the process is associated with a process instance identifier that uniquely identifies the process instance. Thereafter, the data along with the process instance identifier is provided to the process engine to update the state of the process instance.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2016Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: Splunk Inc.Inventors: Alexander Lynn Raitz, Ashwin Mohan Iyer, Pohsin Wang, Ian Matthew Link

Patent number: 11243987Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a set of records from a set of inputs, with each record containing an entity key, a partition key, and one or more attribute-value pairs. Next, the system sorts and indexes the records by the entity key for each partitioned input. The system then processes a query of the records by matching entity key values to the sorted and indexed records for each input partition in the query. Next, the system merges the subset of records with the same entity key values into records, with each merged record containing an entity key field and a single field that includes a list of attribute-value pairs from the subset. Finally, the system outputs the merged records in response to the query.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2016Date of Patent: February 8, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Wenxuan Gao, Bin Wu, Weiqin Ma, Weidong Zhang

Patent number: 11243911Abstract: A device and method for providing a fault-tolerant file system. The fault-tolerant file system attempts to minimize the number of writes used when updating file system data structures. In one embodiment, file system data, including file system metadata, is stored in a fault-tolerant tree including a working state and a transacted state. In one embodiment, a change list is used to track blocks that have been updated, instead of cascading updates to leaf nodes up the tree, and a delta block is used to further minimize block updates when adding or removing nodes from the tree. In one embodiment, a Q-Block is used to prevent cycles when adding and removing free blocks from an allocation tree. Metadata values are stored in the tree in a way that allows certain metadata values to be inferred when not present in the tree, thus conserving space and lowering query time.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2018Date of Patent: February 8, 2022Assignee: TUXERA US INCInventors: Brandon Thomas, Jeremy Glenn Sherrill

Patent number: 11182414Abstract: A computer-implemented method, cognitive intelligence system and computer program product adapt a relational database containing multiple data types. Non-text tokens in the relational database are converted to a textual form. Text is produced based on relations of tokens in the relational database. A set of word vectors is produced for the tokens based on the text. A cognitive intelligence query expressed as a structured query language (SQL) query may be applied to the relational database using the set of word vectors. The form of non-text tokens is one of a numeric value, an SQL type, an image, a video, a time series, latitude and longitude, or chemical structures. A single word embedding model may be applied over one or more tokens in the text. A plurality of sets of preliminary word vectors are computed by applying more than one embedding model over all tokens in the text. The preliminary word vector sets are merged to form the set of word vectors.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2017Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Bortik Bandyopadhyay, Rajesh Bordawekar, Tin Kam Ho
