  • Patent number: 4926343
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of and a system for generating and correcting or regulating a transit schedule of a transportation medium, such as a train. Schedule tables for transportation media having numerical values for departure and arrival time, place of departure, transportation media and trainmen to be allotted and connection transportation media are correspondingly shown. Diagrams of plans are edited differently from the schedule tables, and diagrams of all or individual operations to be carried out by trainmen and other workers are all stored in a memory, and these diagrams are displayed in a display unit. Whenever variations occur in the schedules and actual transit condition is checked. Problems are eliminated automatically in a predetermined range of the diagrams, or picture and guidance displayed at once.

  • Patent number: 4926352
Abstract: A diagnostic system for control apparatus of a motor vehicle equipped with self-diagnostic functions in which the control apparatus are connected with each other by way of a diagnostic bus and a defect lamp line. Diagnostic functions can be initiated by way of a key or momentary switch in an initialization line of the diagnostic bus whereby the diagnostic results can be read out at a defect lamp connected to the defect lamp line by way of flashing code word. The defect output thereby takes place strictly sequentially, defect-by-defect and control apparatus by control apparatus. In order to be able to discontinue at any time a diagnostic analysis of the control apparatus and to be able to continue to the diagnostic analysis of the next control apparatus, a newly defined special signal emission is applied to the initialization line.

  • Patent number: 4926328
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for controlling an automatic transmission. A selector selects a first speed change range or a second speed change range in which the first and second speed change ranges effect speed changes at different points as a function of vehicle operating conditions. A microprocessor having a memory stores predetermined speed change patterns for the first and second speed change ranges and sensors are coupled to the microprocessor for sensing at least two vehicle operating conditions. The microprocessor controls the operation of the transmission in accordance with the vehicle operating conditions and the state of the selector. A selectively operable inhibiting device inhibits the transmission from operating in the maximum speed stage when the transmission is operating in the second speed change range.

  • Patent number: 4924412
Abstract: A high accuracy power meter capable of measuring power supplied or consumed in multiple phases of a distribution system is fabricated as an integrated circuit. Voltage and current sensing transducers coupled to the power meter provide input signals having a potential proportional to the voltage and current in the distribution system. A low charge injection pulse width amplitude multiplier using a digitally-synthesized triangular wave is provided for each phase. Each multiplier receives the input signals and provides an output signal having a current proportional to the product of voltage and current in that phase of the distribution system.Charge from the multiplier output currents for all phases is accumulated in a capacitor connected across an autozeroing amplifier, which corrects for its own offset voltage. The amplifier output controls a switch connected between a reference potential and the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4916629
Abstract: The invention is a method of assisting lumber grading using an electro-optical scanning system. A first critical determination is determination of pith position of the log from which the lumber was cut, relative to the scanned faces. This then indicates knot orientation. With knot orientation known, knot size and position data also determined by the scanning system can be used to accurately estimate cross sectional area of the knots. From this point a tentative lumber grade can readily be assigned. Pith position is indicated by a number of factors including wane, knot counts on each of the faces and the presence or absences of spiky faces. A preferred form the scanner is one which measures localized wood fiber angles relative to three orthogonal axes. These fiber angle measurements reveal grain slope disturbances on the lumber which are indicative of many types of defects including knots. The system has been used for grading lumber at speeds as high as 350 m/min. with considerable accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4914595
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruising speed are disclosed in which an abrupt deceleration time for which the vehicle is abruptly decelerated to the vehicle speed at a time when an off operation of an acceleration switch in a cruise command switch group is carried out after an on operation of the acceleration switch to carry out a constant deceleration of the vehicle is calculated from the total duration of time for which the actuator is controlled so that the vehicle speed increases at a constant rate. Therefore, no need to adjust the abrupt deceleration time according to the individual vehicles in which the systems are mounted. In addition, since the actuator is rendered in the abrupt deceleration state within the appropriate duration of time, road conditions, or a speed range in which the vehicle cruises does not affect the performance of the system.

  • Patent number: 4914612
Abstract: A simulation engine for logically simulating a logic network, which is divided into several levels of hierarchy. At the lowest level is a logic chip which has stored in an instruction memory a sequentially executed program of logical operators and operand addresses. The operand addresses refer to an input memory of the chip. The next highest level is the logic unit, on one circuit board, comprising a plurality of such logic chips. Each of the logic chips of the unit has its input memory receiving the same data from an input bus and a local bus and provides as its output one of the bits of an output bus and one of the bits of the local bus. At the next level, called a cluster, several logic units have their input and output buses interconnected by a plurality of switch units. All the logic chips of the several logic units operate in parallel with the exchange of data through the switch units. Several clusters can be combined into a super cluster by connecting together two or more sets of switch units.
