  • Patent number: 4357951
Abstract: A hair frosting or tipping cap for accurately selecting a uniform distribution of particular locks of hair to be color treated (dye, bleach or tint) or any other treatment where a particular density of hair is desirable while shielding the remaining hair in order to achieve a desired intensity of hair to be treated. The device allows a person skilled or unskilled in the use of a frosting or tipping cap to achieve selective variable intensity of hair to be treated. The cap includes a plurality of hair receiving, puncturable areas forming apertures uniformly spaced about the cap surface and two or more indicia means such as color coding which are affixed in proximal relationship to particular apertures in preconceived patterns whereby the indicia means provide readily visible information to direct the user to select particular apertures through which locks of hairs are pulled out to achieve a particular desired level of intensity of color.

  • Patent number: 4354512
Abstract: A liquid applicator device is disclosed, useful in applying bleaching or coloring compositions or the like to the hair in the course of cosmetically treating same. The device comprises a compressible container for receiving the composition; a cap closure being removably secured to the top of the container and including an opening therethrough for feeding the composition upon manual compression of the container. Brush means, including liquid distribution means, extend from the cap and are in communication with the cap opening to enable feed of the composition to the brush. A hair-parting wand extends from the cap at an angle diverging from the direction of extension of the brush, whereby a user of the device may employ the wand to part and separate the hair and thereupon utilize the brush to apply the treating composition.

  • Patent number: 4353380
Abstract: A hair curler includes a flexible central lattice element 2 flanked by hinged wing elements 3, 4 and having a flattened coil spring 5 mounted thereon under tension, thus tending to roll up the curler. The curler is held open in a first embodiment by a segmented strip 6 mounted on a wing element and only rollable in one direction, whereby it blocks rolling when the wing element is folded out and enables it when the wing element is folded over the central element. Rolling is prevented in a second embodiment by angle springs 9 and/or corner bands 10 connected at the hinge points of cross bars 8 extending across the central and wing elements, to thus hold the opened wing elements perpendicular to the main element.

  • Patent number: 4344446
Abstract: A total head care package of a solid stick-like scalp cleanser and a cleaning and conditioning hair shampoo is provided along with a method of cleansing the scalp and cleaning and conditioning the hair. The solid scalp cleanser is a substantially anhydrous formulation which includes soap, amphoteric detergent and antimicrobial agent in a wax-like base. The hair shampoo both cleans and conditions the hair and includes a cationic salt of a primary aliphatic amine with amphoteric detergents. The hair shampoo is typically in the form of a gel. The cationic salt increases strength and stretchability of the hair shafts and reduces static charge buildup. The solid scalp cleanser which may be molded into a lipstick configuration is first applied to the scalp and, before the scalp cleanser is removed the hair shampoo is applied. Both products are then removed by rinsing.
