  • Patent number: 7533925
Abstract: A body structure of a passenger car, and especially of a convertible, features at least one side door on each longitudinal side of the vehicle. The side door, when closed, connects to adjoining fixed pillars via hinges at one end and via a lock assembly at the other end. For improved crash resistance of the body structure of a passenger car, and especially of a convertible, with a rear engine in the event of a head-on collision, a buttress assembly is installed between the rearward rim of the side door and the adjoining lock-side pillar. The buttress assembly effectively holds the side door in its closed position in the event of a head-on collision, while at approximately the level of the buttress assembly, the side door is braced by a hollow strut that extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7530623
Abstract: A cab for a vehicle, such as an all terrain vehicle, a tractor, or small construction vehicle, is constructed of twin-sheet plastic panels that can be easily assembled, preferably with snap-together interlocking features. One of the panels can be a door panel having a door hinged to a door frame to control passage through a doorway. Both the door and the door frame have spaced apart hinge knuckles that interleave along a hinge axis to allow the door to pivot about a hinge pin. The door and door frame can be molded in a single twin-sheet panel. The two walls of the panel are fused together along the outer periphery of the panel door portion and the inner periphery of the panel door frame portion. The door is separated from the door frame by cutting the each of the walls along a door perimeter between the door and door frame portions of the molded panel.

  • Patent number: 7472945
Abstract: An overhead guard of an industrial vehicle has a top and a plurality of pillars. The top is disposed above and covers an operator's seat. The top includes a dam body and a slope portion. The dam body is formed at its front edge and/or rear edge by bending upward a part of the top. The slope portion slopes down toward the dam body. The pillars support the top. At least one of the pillars has a groove extending in a longitudinal direction of the pillar so as to be obliquely upward or upright. Water on the top is guided by the dam body to drain onto the groove.

  • Patent number: 7448664
Abstract: A seat mount structure for a saddle ride vehicle having seat brackets provided on a vehicle body frame, includes hooks on a bottom plate of a seat, and locking the hooks to the seat brackets to thereby mount the seat to the vehicle body frame. The structure also includes front-side cushion rubbers for receiving the load on the seat side mounted to the seat brackets, the front-side cushion rubbers being located on the inner side of the hooks. With this seat mount structure for a saddle ride vehicle, a bending moment at a lock portion between the vehicle body frame side and the seat side is suppressed, and the ride comfort is enhanced while setting the moldability of a seat bottom plate to be equivalent to that in the related art.

  • Patent number: 7441822
Abstract: A seat assembly movable in both longitudinal and transverse directions in an automotive vehicle. The seat assembly includes a seat cushion and an adjuster mechanism. The seat cushion has an upper surface for supporting a seated occupant above a floor of an automotive vehicle and an opposite bottom surface. The adjuster mechanism is coupled to the bottom surface of the seat cushion. The adjuster mechanism includes a set of first wheels that allows movement of the seat assembly in a longitudinal direction along tracks on the floor of the vehicle. The adjuster mechanism further includes a set of second wheels that are arranged generally orthogonal to the first wheels to allow movement of the seat assembly in a transverse direction across the tracks and the floor of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7441831
Abstract: An attachment mount apparatus connects a subframe component to the lower frame midrail structure for an automotive vehicle that is formed from a pair of tubular members manufactured through a hydroforming process. The two tubular members are formed with a pair of opposing semi-cylindrical depressions to receive a cylindrical mounting member internally of the frame structure. One of the semi-cylindrical depressions and the corresponding outer wall of the tubular member are pierced to receive the cylindrical mount and a mounting plate. The opposing semi-cylindrical depression serves as a stop to locate the cylindrical mount along the centerline of the frame structure. The mounting plate spans the entire frame structure and is supported on four wall thicknesses to provide a stable mount structure for subframe components. The cylindrical mounting member is threaded to receive a fastener for the mounting of the subframe member.

  • Patent number: 7438344
Abstract: A sealing or weather strip for attachment to a convertible top of an automotive vehicle, the strip having an upwardly facing, generally C-shaped channel for receiving water from the top during rainy weather or during washing of the vehicle. The strip further has an upwardly extending leg of substantial longitudinal extent and an outwardly projecting bump of limited longitudinal extent on the leg to position other portions of the leg away from the convertible top. The bump is spaced from the channel and vertically above at least major portions of the channel, thereby requiring capillary action to cause water to flow along an outside portion of the leg into the channel. The leg forms a pocket for sealingly receiving an upper edge of a window of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7422263
Abstract: A ladder assembly is disclosed that mounts to a truck tailgate. In one embodiment, the ladder assembly includes a base which is coupled to the tailgate. A pair of legs are slidably and pivotably mounted to the based and each pair of legs includes three segments that define upper, middle, and lower ladder sections. A first pair of joints hingedly couples the upper ladder section to the middle ladder section. A second pair of joints hingedly couples the middle ladder section to the lower ladder section. The first pair of joints is larger than the second pair of joints such that when the upper ladder section is folded into the middle ladder section a pocket is formed therebetween for receiving the lower ladder section.

  • Patent number: 7416241
Abstract: A grille and bonnet assembly is mounted at the forward end of an automotive vehicle. The bonnet is formed with a leading edge and a trailing edge with the leading edge positioned above or at an upper edge of the grille during normal operation of the automotive vehicle when the bonnet is closed. The grille and bonnet are designed with corresponding inclined surfaces that are located relative to each other such that a force greater than a predetermined value transmitted from the bonnet to the grille forces at least the upper part of the grille to move forwardly so as to allow the bonnet to move downwardly. Such yielding movement of the grille and bonnet can reduce injuries in the event of an impact between a pedestrian and the bonnet of the automotive vehicle.
