    Abstract: One embodiment provides a system for facilitating efficient communication of a collection of interests. During operation, the system receives, by an intermediate node, a first packet which has a name and a first nonce, wherein the first packet indicates a set of member interests, wherein a member interest has a name. In response to not obtaining a matching entry in a pending interest table based on the name for the first packet, the system creates a new entry in the pending interest table, wherein an entry includes a second nonce, a reference count, and a set of arrival nonces and corresponding arrival interfaces. The system sets the new entry's second nonce to a new nonce, and sets the new entry's reference count to a number of member interests indicated in the first packet. The system forwards the first packet, wherein the first nonce is replaced with the new nonce.

In one design, a user equipment (UE) may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on a SC-FDMA modulation technique. In another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on an OFDMA modulation technique. The UE may generate SC-FDMA symbols or OFDMA symbols in different manners for different physical channels. In yet another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal including a primary synchronization signal and a secondary synchronization signal. For all designs, the UE may transmit the proximity detection signal to indicate its presence and to enable other UEs to detect the UE.

As such, when determining a packet to forward to the receiver device with flow entropy, the sender device may select a particular entropy label from the set of entropy labels for that receiver device, and transmits the packet device to the receiver device with the selected particular entropy label.

The guard interval used for the PPDU is selected to be the short guard interval when the PPDU is generated for a plurality of receiving devices, all of which support the short guard interval. The method according to the embodiment further includes transmitting the PPDU to the plurality of receiving devices.

The downlink FANR operation may be dynamically switched between time-based and SSN-based.
