Abstract: The present invention provides a method for shortening signaling delay of ISC session transfer procedure, a network element for controlling ISC session transfer, a network element for anchoring a media path in ISC session transfer and a communication system including at least two terminals and the above two network elements. In the present invention, the SCC AS decides if a media path needs to be anchored in a media anchor point MRF, and if yes, then instructs a MRF to assign respective media endpoints for a local UE and a remote UE and connect the two media endpoints together, so as to divide the session between the local UE and the remote UE into two independent sub-sessions: a session between the local UE and the MRF, and a session between the remote UE and the MRF. For these two sub-sessions, the SIP signaling is terminated and sent out in the SCC AS. Thus, when a local UE or a remote UE triggers handover, only one sub-session needs to be updated/influenced.

  • Patent number: 9787491
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for interleaving communications with a home area network (HAN) and a data network. A gateway device interleaves communications within timeslots of a time slotted channel hopping protocol. A gateway device can be configured to determine, during a first portion of a timeslot, whether the gateway device received a portion of a message from a data network. If the gateway device receives no messages from the data network during the first portion of the timeslot, the gateway device switches to listen for communication from the HAN during a second portion of the timeslot. If the gateway device receives a portion of the message from the HAN, the gateway device continues to receive receives the remainder of the message until one or more trigger conditions that cause the gateway device to listen for communication from the data network.

  • Patent number: 9781032
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for configuring a provider edge (PE) network device of an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) to use a common traffic engineering label (e.g., MPLS label) for different EVPN route types associated with the same EVPN. In some examples, the techniques include sending a first layer three (L3) control plane message that indicates a label-switched network protocol label that corresponds to a first EVPN route type, wherein the first L3 control plane message indicates that a first PE network device is reachable in the L2 segment. The techniques may include performing L2 address learning to determine at least one L2 address associated with the layer two segment of the EVPN. The techniques may include sending a second L3 control plane message that indicates the same label included in the first L3 control plane message corresponds to a second EVPN route type.

  • Patent number: 9775102
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for determining an optimal access point for a client device based on the relative difference between signal strengths of wireless signals received by the client device from access points. In particular, the signal strengths of wireless signals received by a client device from access points are determined without receipt of signal strength and/or transmit power information from the client device. Instead, the signal strength difference value may be determined based on known characteristics of signals transmitted by the access points and known characteristics of signals received by the access points from the client device. This relative difference value may thereafter be used to determine an appropriate access point to provide network access to the client device.

  • Patent number: 9756553
Abstract: A method and system provide assisted acquisition of a wireless link between user equipment and a femtocell unit. After an initial calibration of timing and/or frequency information, the user equipment enters into a low-power state. The femtocell unit monitors for system updates using a network listen module that sniffs the air interface of one or more neighboring cells. Upon a trigger event, the femtocell unit provides aiding information, for example, timing and/or frequency information corresponding to a change in timing and/or frequency of the air interface, over a second radio, e.g., a wireless personal area network interface. Thus, the user equipment may remain in the low-power state and receive updates with respect to the wireless wide area network interface. Subsequently, upon wake-up, the user equipment may utilize the aiding information, for example, to recalibrate its timing and/or frequency. Thus, acquisition of the wireless link with the femtocell unit may be expedited.

  • Patent number: 9749236
Abstract: Handling of ELS REQ and RSP packets that contain addresses in the payload is shifted to the edge fabric switches connected to the node devices issuing and receiving the ELS REQ packet, the ingress and egress switches. This allows the ELS REQ and RSP packet payload address modification operations to be removed from the tasks handled by the router processor. As this removes a processing burden from the router processors, those router processors are free to handle other normal operations, thus allowing more processor bandwidth to be provided to those other operations, which allows further growth of the network as one limitation has been removed. The need to replicate or provide commands between switches or routers is avoided as there are no redundant paths at that point.

  • Patent number: 9749877
Abstract: A method and apparatus are used for detecting a radio link (RL) failure and a post verification process. A quality of a downlink fractional dedicated physical channel (F-DPCH) is monitored once a transmission on an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) has begun. It is determined whether the quality of the downlink F-DPCH is below a predefined threshold. If the quality is below the predefined threshold, then an occurrence of an RL failure is declared and a transmission over the E-DCH in a cell forward access channel (CELL_FACH) state is terminated. In a case of the post verification failure, E-DCH resources are released.
