Each array having three-dimensionally arranged k sets of memory planes each consisting of m (rows).times.n (columns); wherein the same corresponding positions of the k sets of memory planes are simultaneously accessed and the resultant data calculated by the multi-plane bit operation unit are also simultaneously written thereto.

The system further comprises a detector connected to the X-direction straight line generator for discriminating whether or not a residual pattern occurs each time the X-direction straight line generator generates an output, and a dot generator responsive to the output of the detector to generate, when a dot lack is discriminated on the position of the residual pattern the same dot information as that of the dot adjacent to the residual pattern position in the destination coordinate.

Each such group is transmitted to 2.sup.n of the 2.sup.N output junctions.     Abstract: A method for presenting intervisibility data relative to an observation point. A data base of terrain altitudes is stored in computer memory. The data base comprises terrain altitudes at a grid of points in a selected terrestrial area encompassing the observation point. Visible heights from the observation point at the grid points are derived from the data base with a computer by performing a number of steps grid point by grid point in succession in an order moving away from the observation point. The first step is to determine a projected height at the grid point from the visible heights between the observation point and the grid point. The second step is to compare the projected height with the terrain altitude at the grid point. The third step is select as the visible height at the grid point the larger of the compared terrain altitude and the projected height. A number representative of the visible height at each grid point as so derived with a computer is stored in computer memory.

    Abstract: A graphics co-processor that is autonomously responsive to an instruction for the filling of a complex polygon, as defined by an enumeration of P vertices is described. The co-processor preferably includes a micro-engine sequencer and ALU (arithmetic logic unit) for selecting a first vertex from the enumeration of P vertices and for decomposing the complex polygon into a set of P-2 triangles, wherein each triangle includes the first vertex and to successive vertices as presented in the enumeration of P vertices is derived. A sense value is derived for each of the resultant P-2 triangles and each triangle is filled with a predetermined fill quantity that is qualified by the respectively associated sense value of the triangle being filled. Thus, the present invention provides for the autonomous execution of a fill polygon instruction for polygons having such complexities as concavities, self-intersections, overlapping sections and "holes".

The number of polygon edges positioned above the colinear horizontal edge and which have a vertex coincident with the colinear horizontal edge, as well as the number of polygon edges positioned below the colinear horizontal edge and which have a vertex coincident with the colinear horizontal edge, are calculated. The parity of the crossed-edge count is inverted if the parity of both the above edge count and below edge count are even, and the string of pixels along the raster display scan-line from the current edge intersection to the next edge intersection are modified if the parity of the crossed-edge count is odd.
