Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus is capable of reducing a power loss incurred by a power-supply section in a process of generating a power-supply voltage for driving a backlight section. In the configuration of the power-supply section, a main power-supply circuit and an inverter circuit (or a DC-DC converter) are connected to an input-voltage generation unit in parallel to each other, which is used for rectifying and smoothing the commercial alternative current power. The main power-supply circuit and the inverter circuit (or the DC-DC converter) each include an isolation transformer including a primary-side winding not isolated from the commercial alternative current power and a secondary winding provided on the secondary side. The direct current input voltage is supplied to the primary side to be subjected to a power conversion process to generate an output voltage on the secondary side of the isolation transformer.

  • Patent number: RE48002
Abstract: An arrangement for a high resolution active matrix display includes organic emissive layers of distinct colors each deposited across continuous regions so as to include more than one pixel emissive region. Color filters are situated to partially block light from at least some of the emissive regions such that primary additive colors are transmitted from distinct subsets of pixels. The emissive layers may be deposited in alternating parallel stripes along rows or columns of the display, or may be oriented perpendicularly with respect to one another such that the emissive layers overlap in the emissive regions of at least some pixels. In some examples, red, green, and blue of pixels are arranged in regular patterns across the display and with the emissive regions for the blue pixels forming a relatively larger area of the display than either the red or green pixels.

  • Patent number: RE48996
Abstract: A current detection module capable of differentiating and quantifying contribution to a current signal generated by a sensor in response to stimulation by a certain target source from contributions from sources other than the target source (ambient sources) is disclosed. As long as the contribution from the target source comprises a pulsed signal, the module may synchronize itself to the pulse(s) so that there is a predetermined phase relationship between the pulse(s) and functions carried out by various stages of the module. The module may be re-used to also detect and quantify contributions from ambient sources by presenting these contributions to the module as pulses that trigger synchronization of the module. To that end, a detection system disclosed herein is based on the use of such current detection module and allows mode switching where, depending on the selected mode of operation, the module is configured to perform different measurements.
