  • Patent number: 10168882
Abstract: A method is performed at an electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and a camera. The device displays a first camera interface on the display for a first virtual camera that produces media with first output dimensions. While displaying the first camera interface on the display, the device detects a first gesture that includes movement of a contact in a first direction on the touch-sensitive surface. The first gesture does not interact with a predefined camera-switching affordance. In response to detecting the first gesture, the device switches from displaying the first camera interface to displaying a second camera interface for a second virtual camera that produces media with second output dimensions different from the first output dimensions. The second camera interface is different from the first camera interface.

Abstract: The present invention provides a hybrid-resolution encoding and decoding method. The method includes performing full-resolution standard coding on an I frame that adopts only intra-frame coding in a video frame sequence, and performing frame reconstruction to obtain a reconstructed frame of the I frame; performing down-sampling on the reconstructed frame of the I frame to obtain a first sampling image of the reconstructed frame of the I frame; performing down-sampling on a non-I frame in the video frame sequence to obtain a second sampling image of the non-I frame; performing standard coding on the second sampling image of the non-I frame by using the first sampling image of the reconstructed frame of the I frame that corresponds to the non-I frame as a reference frame; and sending a video code stream that includes the full-resolution standard coded I frame and the standard coded non-I frame.

  • Patent number: 10091504
Abstract: Variations of rho-domain rate control for video encoding or other media encoding are presented. For example, in some of the variations, an encoder sets a rho value for a unit of media based at least in part on a bit allocation for the unit. The encoder also computes transform coefficients for the unit using a frequency transform having multiple location-dependent scale factors, sets a value of quantization parameter (“QP”) for the unit using a mapping of QP values to rho values, and uses the value of QP for the unit during quantization of the transform coefficients of the unit. When the QP-rho mapping is determined, a location-independent scale factor that approximates the multiple location-dependent scale factors is used and/or certain scaling operations are integrated, which reduces computational complexity while still supporting accurate rate control decisions. Implementations of such variations of rate control can exploit opportunities for caching and parallel computation.
