Abstract: Advice of charge information is provided utilizing the session initiation protocol (SIP) in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem without utilizing an application server. The advice of charge message is provided to a user via the serving call/session control function and the home subscription server. When a request for a service is received by the serving call/session control function, the state of a binary, Boolean flag associated with the originator of the request is analyzed. Depending upon the state of the flag, either the request is routed to its intended destination, or an advice of charge message is routed to originating user, advising the user of the charge for the requested service. If the user accepts the charge, the serving call/session control function transmits the request for routing to the intended destination, and the flag is toggled. If the user declines the charge, the call is ended.
Abstract: A node (200) includes a processor (201) for determining neighbor nodes in a routing path to a destination based on a routing table associated with the node (200). The node (200) includes a memory for storing a first authenticated tokens. The node includes a transmitter (203) for transmitting a first request-to-route (RTR) message including an indication specifying information units (IUs) from the first node to the neighbor nodes in a routing path from the first node to the destination. The node (200) includes a receiver (205) for receiving a neighbor reply message from one of the neighbor nodes to the first node which indicates that the neighbor node will route the information units (IUs). The transmitter (203) transmits a second authenticated tokens from the first node to one of the neighbor nodes. The second authenticated tokens are converted into a tradable entity and provide compensation to the neighbor node selected.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for supporting a multi-mode portable user terminal (UT) hard handoff procedure for a call from a wireless local area network (WLAN) to a cellular telephone network. The method includes: establishing a link between a UT and a serving WLAN; establishing a call via the established WLAN link; monitoring the WLAN link signal strength; simultaneously monitoring a serving cellular network; initiating a hard handoff to the cellular network, responsive to the monitored WLAN link signal strength falling below a minimum threshold; and, continuing the call via the cellular network. More specifically, the method initiates a call handoff to a Cellular Gateway (CGW) telephone number, responsive to the monitored WLAN link signal strength falling below the minimum threshold. Then, continuing the call via the cellular network includes continuing the call to the first telephone number via the CGW handoff telephone number.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for a wireless communication between a base station and at least one mobile station. The method includes receiving a request for a data rate from the mobile station on a reverse link channel to the base station. The method further includes, in response to the request, skipping a first slot after a delay for a portion of a slot on a forward link transmission before transmitting a data packet in a second slot. By beginning the forward link transmission at the start of the second slot, for example, a software module may cause the base station to skip a slot immediately after the half slot delay. This additional delay of one slot or a portion of the slot may expand radius of a cell for a wireless communication between the base station and the mobile station in a relatively high-speed wireless data network.

Abstract: A method for controlling transmission power on a node over a wireless ad-hoc network which includes a plurality of sender, intermediate and receiver nodes is provided. Initially, levels of the transmission power of the node are configured. The node then exchange information with its neighboring nodes by sending out a global signal. After exchanging the information, the node identifies a node coverage for the level of the transmission power. The node then determines an effective transmission power (ETP). Finally, the ETP is used to form a virtual cluster.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for mixing Basic Service Set (BSS) and mesh traffic is presented. A same channel or a same radio is shared for mesh traffic and BSS traffic. The sharing of the channel including reserving a channel for BSS traffic by a Mesh Access Point (MAP), the reserving comprising sending a CC-RTS or a CC-CTS addressed to the MAP and/or blocking use of the channel by a BSS stations when the channel is not reserved for BSS traffic, the blocking use of the channel comprising the MAP sending a frame setting a NAV in the BSS. The shared radio is switchable between serving the BSS traffic and serving the mesh traffic.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for performing a time shift function according to a current call connection state are disclosed. If a user enters a call connection mode with another party while viewing digital broadcast signal, received digital broadcast signal is recorded. If the call connection mode is terminated, the digital broadcast signal stored from a start time of the call connection mode is reproduced and displayed. Therefore, although the user loses specific broadcast signal received during a call connection time, the user can continuously view the lost broadcast signal without any loss after the lapse of the call connection time.

In response to receiving an incoming call from a caller, the process displays a list of response messages in a set of response messages.
