  • Patent number: 9396087
Abstract: A performance data collection unit collects the performance data of managed CPUs from a performance measurement unit. A grouping unit compares the collected performance data with each other, forms groups of CPUs whose performance data is approximate to each other, and selects a representative CPU of each group. A performance data transmission unit transmits the collected performance data to a performance data management apparatus that accumulates and manages the performance data. In this connection, the performance data of the representative CPUs of the groups is transmitted at specified transmission intervals, and the performance data of the other CPUs of the groups is transmitted at transmission intervals that are longer than the specified transmission intervals.

  • Patent number: 9377452
Abstract: A method for monitoring the use of a consumable in a disposable design in multiple analyzers is disclosed. The method provides a disposable consumable; uses the consumable as intended during operation of the first analyzer; and collects usage-relevant information for the consumable concerning the intended use of the consumable during operation of the first analyzer. Usage-relevant data derived from the usage-relevant information is stored in a memory unit assigned to the consumable. The consumable may be removed and again provided in the first or second analyzer. The first or second analyzer partially reads the usage-relevant data from the memory unit, evaluates the usage-relevant data, and derives control signals concerning the permissibility and/or type of a further intended use of the consumable during operation of the analyzer as a reaction to the evaluation of the read usage-relevant data.

  • Patent number: 9297731
Abstract: An acoustic emissions testing device includes a testing sample, an acoustic sensor communicably coupled to the testing sample, and a load that is exerted on the sample. The acoustic sensor detects one or more acoustic events occurring within the sample. The acoustic sensor transmits data to a data recorder, which includes a processor and storage medium for executing instructions provided by a software residing within the storage medium. Upon executing the instructions on the transmitted data, the toughness of the sample is objectively determined and can be ranked comparatively to the toughness of other samples. The instructions provide for categorizing the data into possible acoustic event points and background data points, interpolating a background noise curve, determining the actual acoustic event points, and calculating the area under each actual acoustic event point.

  • Patent number: 9182081
Abstract: A method and system for evaluating the sample coverage of ultrasonic or radiography (UT/RT) measurements of pipeline wall thickness for statistical validity. A data library contains distributions of in-line inspection (ILI) measurements for other pipelines, calibrated to correspond to UT/RT measurements as needed. The data library for these ILI-measured pipelines also includes statistics generated from Monte Carlo simulation, by way of which various sample coverage levels sample the ILI measurements, for determining whether a measurement exceeds a given threshold or meets another premise related to determining the extreme wall loss measurement for the pipeline. A pipeline with sampled UT/RT measurements is used to identify one or more ILI-measured pipeline datasets that are most similar, and the statistics from those most similar pipeline datasets determine whether the sample coverage of the UT/RT measurements is sufficient to draw conclusions about the extreme value of wall loss in the sampled pipeline.

  • Patent number: 9152530
Abstract: One embodiment provides a system that analyzes telemetry data from a monitored system. During operation, the system periodically obtains the telemetry data as a set of telemetry variables from the monitored system and updates a multidimensional real-time distribution of the telemetry data using the obtained telemetry variables. Next, the system analyzes a statistical deviation of the multidimensional real-time distribution from a multidimensional reference distribution for the monitored system using a multivariate sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) and assesses the integrity of the monitored system based on the statistical deviation of the multidimensional real-time distribution. If the assessed integrity falls below a threshold, the system determines a fault in the monitored system corresponding to a source of the statistical deviation.

  • Patent number: 8990044
Abstract: A revolution counter including sensors, which generate position values that define an angular position of a shaft, and a determination unit that receives the position values and generates decision signals therefrom, wherein the decision signals determine counting sectors. The revolution counter includes a counting control unit that receives the counting sectors, and operates the revolution counter in a first mode or a second mode of operation. The counting control unit switches over to the second mode, if after a length of time no change in one of the counting sectors takes place, and switches over to the first mode if a change in one of the counting sectors does take place. The determination unit determines an uncertainty range between each pairing of the counting sectors. The counting control unit does not take the uncertainty ranges into account for the switchover from the second mode to the first mode.
