  • Patent number: 9940539
Abstract: An object recognition apparatus and method thereof are disclosed. An exemplary apparatus may determine an image feature vector of a first image by applying a convolution network to the first image. The convolution network may extract features from image learning sets that include the first image and a sample segmentation map of the first image. The exemplary apparatus may determine a segmentation map of the first image by applying a deconvolution network to the determined image feature vector. The exemplary apparatus may determine a weight of the convolution network and a weight of the deconvolution network based on the sample segmentation map and the first segmentation map. The exemplary apparatus may determine a second segmentation map of a second image through the convolution network using the determined weight of the convolution network and through the deconvolution network using the determined weight of the deconvolution network.

  • Patent number: 9931098
Abstract: A method of operating a tomographic imaging system whereby a plurality of radiographic images of an object are captured at a first orientation of the system's source and detector. After the radiographic images are captured and stored, geometric calibration data for the system is measured, corresponding to the first orientation of the system. A three dimensional image of the object is reconstructed using the measured geometric calibration data corresponding to the first orientation.

  • Patent number: 9904854
Abstract: A computer determines a type of change in a state of a bed on the basis of a correspondence relationship between a boundary that indicates a first bed area in a first image and a line segment represented by an edge detected from a second image. The second image is an image that is captured after the first image is captured, and the change in the state of the bed is a state change that occurs during a time period from the capturing of the first image to the capturing of the second image.

  • Patent number: 9892478
Abstract: In one aspect, assembly of multi-part food packaging is checked by reference to payloads of steganographically-encoded digital watermarks printed across plural components of the packaging. Marking all surfaces of the packaging components allows arbitrary orientation of feed stock in assembly equipment, and wide latitude in placement of inspection cameras along the packaging line. In another aspect, a scanner at a retail checkout station is alert to any gap detected in steganographic encoding on retail product packaging and, if found, alerts an operator to possible presence of an adhesive label with a misleading barcode. A great variety of others features and arrangements are also detailed.

  • Patent number: 9886757
Abstract: A lesion detecting method and a lesion detecting apparatus for breast image in a rotating manner are provided. In the method, a set of breast image in the rotating manner is obtained. The set of breast image in the rotating manner contains sub breast images. The sub breast image is reconstructed, to generate a reconstructed breast image. The reconstructed breast image is compared with the set of breast image in the rotating manner without being reconstructed. Accordingly, at least one lesion position would be confirmed according to the comparing result. Therefore, viewing a three-dimensional breast image would be convenient for medical staff, and false positive of detecting lesion would be reduced.

  • Patent number: 9867541
Abstract: An information processing apparatus according to the present invention is configured to project a given region (e.g., region of interest or lesion of interest) in a three-dimensional image (e.g., MRI image or X-ray CT image) onto a plane including a two-dimensional image (e.g., ultrasonic image) of an object, and cause a display unit to display an error range caused by projection (range where a corresponding region of the region of interest in the two-dimensional image may exist, also referred to as a search range) including the projected region in such a manner that the error range is overlaid on top of the two-dimensional image. Therefore, a user is able to efficiently search for the corresponding region in the two-dimensional image which corresponds to the region of interest in the three-dimensional image.

  • Patent number: 9858649
Abstract: An image such as a light-field image may be processed to provide depth-based blurring. The image may be received in a data store. At an input device, first and second user input may be received to designate a first focus depth and a second focus depth different from the first focus depth, respectively. A processor may identify one or more foreground portions of the image that have one or more foreground portion depths, each of which is less than the first focus depth. The processor may also identify one or more background portions of the image that have one or more background portion depths, each of which is greater than the second focus depth. The processor may also apply blurring to the one or more foreground portions and the one or more background portions to generate a processed image, which may be displayed on a display device.

  • Patent number: 9830518
Abstract: A lane mark recognition device detects an edge located in a proximal area in front of the vehicle, and determines a lane mark candidate on the basis of the detected edge and an edge that is located in a distal area farther than the proximal area in front of the vehicle and that is continuous with the edge. Therefore, an edge of another vehicle (leading vehicle) or the like located in the distal area in a captured image is not detected as a lane mark candidate (is excluded as a non lane mark candidate).

  • Patent number: 9829614
Abstract: Systems and methods for optical imaging are disclosed. The optical fingerprint sensor includes an image sensor array; a collimator filter layer disposed above the image sensor array, the collimator filter layer having an array of apertures; and an illumination layer disposed above the collimator filter layer. The collimator filter layer filters reflected light such that only certain of the reflected light beams reach optical sensing elements in the image sensor array. Employing the collimator filter layer prevents blurring while allowing for a lower-profile image sensor.
