Patent number: 4871613Abstract: A packaging material which comprises a simultaneously coextruded film comprising a conductive ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer resin layer containing more than 50 wt.% of ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer resin of which content of ethyl acrylate is more than 6 wt.%, 7 to 20 wt.% of carbon black and 0.01 to 1 wt.% of a lubricant, and a polyolefin resin layer. The packaging material of the invention is superior in antistatic property, moistureproofness, light-shielding, tear strength, impact puncture strength, slipping character and heat sealing properties. Its production is easy because of superior moldability, and generations of blocking, fish eye and pin hole are rare. The packaging material of the invention can be made thinner than the conventional packaging material, and expensive metal foil is not necessary. Accordingly, this packaging material is inexpensive.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1987Date of Patent: October 3, 1989Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventor: Mutsuo Akao

Patent number: 4861671Abstract: A protective layer for a magneto-optically active layer is formed of an outer impermeable layer and an inner layer that protects the active from the outer layer. The outer layer may be an oxide and the inner layer a non-oxide. The oxide and non-oxide layers may form discreet layers or they may be continuously graded. The graded layer may be formed by reactively sputtering aluminum in the presence of reactive gases, oxygen and nitrogen, while continually varying the flowing reactive gas from nitrogen to oxygen.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1987Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Assignee: Kerdix, Inc.Inventors: Boris J. Muchnik, Frank H. Robertson, III

Patent number: 4855174Abstract: The present invention discloses a lagging-reinforced structure which comprises a substrate, a lining layer of a flexible and resilient material coated on the upper surface of the substrate, a plurality of laggings embedded in the lining, the laggings having an anchoring portion at the embedded end thereof, and the laggings made of a material of high hardness and high wear resistance. Due to such construction, the peeling-off of the lagging from the lining layer can be effectively prevented.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1986Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Inventor: Masaichi Kawamoto

Patent number: 4840851Abstract: A surface coated article comprising a substrate with a cured polyethylene oxide-based coating thereupon. The essential features of the article are that the coating essentially consists of polyethylene oxide chains, with one free end and one end that has been cross-linked to other chains via a special cross-linking agent, that the cross-linking has been performed by radiation, and that the substrate has been swollen prior to cross-linking. The article can be prepared by applying to the substrate a solution containing the polyethylene oxide, the cross-linking agent, a swelling solvent and optionally a radical initiator, evaporating the solvent and cross-linking the coating by radiation curing. A suitable coating composition comprises per mole of the polyethylene oxide, 0.1-10 moles of the cross-linking agent, 0-500 moles of the solvent and optionally 0.0001-0.5 moles of the radical initiator. The article is especially useful within the biomedical field.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1986Date of Patent: June 20, 1989Assignee: Ytkemiska InstitutetInventors: Carl G. Golander, Erik S. Jonsson, Todorka G. Vladkova

Patent number: 4826728Abstract: A particulate, free-flowing and rapid dissolving polymer composition is prepared by comminuting a high molecular weight thermoplastic or viscoelastic polymer at a temperature below its glass transition temperature while maintaining the polymer in an inert environment. A finely divided, solid coating agent is mingled with the comminuted polymer while maintaining the polymer particles in a cold and inert atmosphere. The particles of coating agent form a protective shell around each polymer particle by tumble mixing the components while raising the temperature of the mixture. The polymer composition finds use as a drag reducing agent; as an anti-misting agent; to enhance the efficiency of oil skimming processes and devices; and for the preparation of polymer solutions for other uses.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1987Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Assignee: General Technology Applications, Inc.Inventors: Dion P. O'Mara, Albert F. Hadermann, Jerry C. Trippe
