  • Patent number: 5087019
Abstract: An apparatus wherein an elongate tube receives a threaded rod therewithin, wherein a medial sleeve including a threaded bore is rotatable to effect extension and retraction of the threaded rod relative to the tube. The tube and rod each include "J" shaped jaw member coaxially aligned with the tube and rod to engage opposed portions of an animal rib cage to effect a spreading of the rib cage subsequent to a hunting procedure. The sleeve may optionally include an annular array of blind bores to slidably receive an elongate peg member to enhance rotation of the sleeve relative to the rod.

  • Patent number: 5072918
Abstract: Clamping apparatus for holding a workpiece such as a log comprises a cruciform support frame of legs the upper limbs of which define upwardly open V-shape volumes for receiving a log. Arcuately clamped arms are pivotally connected to respective legs and spring biased to a closure position by springs joined by chains to a rigid connector link pivoted to the clamp arm by a pivot projecting onto the opposite side of the clamp arm from the pivotal connection by which it is connected to the leg frame allowing it to be moved to an over-center cocked position in which a curved tail portion projects into the V-shape volume to act as a trigger initiating closure of the clamp arm with the log is placed in position. In other embodiments a flat working surface replaces the diverging support arms.

  • Patent number: 5067694
Abstract: An automated machining center performs various operations on a work piece which is locked onto the pallet using a hydraulically operable fixture. An automatic coupling system according to the invention provides for automatic coupling between the pallet and a source of hydraulic power to selectively lock or release the work piece on the pallet. The coupling system includes a cam ring associated with the pallet in axial alignment with a rotatable locking rod associated with a base unit. The locking rod is axially mounted to a dual acting hydraulic cylinder itself axially mounted to a carriage which is moveable relative to the base unit. Alternate extension and retraction of the cylinder causes the locking rod to selectively engage the cam ring to draw the carriage towards the pallet to provide automatic coupling between quick coupler sockets on the carriage and quick plug couplers on the pallet to provide a fluid communication line between a source of power and the hydraulic fixture.

  • Patent number: 5065488
Abstract: A tandem axle trailer pin extracter device for extracting lodged tandem axle trailer locking pins when repositioning the trailer relative to tandem axles thereunder. The self-contained, portable device comprises a hook-like mechanism for engaging the release handle which dislodges the locking pins. A pair of spring-loaded handles is placed in a cocked position such that a constant bias is constantly applied to the release handle while an operator rocks the trailer and axles back and forth, allowing the device to automatically and unattendedly extract the pins. After slowly moving the trailer forward or backward to the desired location for repositioning the trailer body relative to the axles, the bias is removed from the release handle and the device is disengaged therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5065989
Abstract: A workable comprises two pairs of legs, a tabletop, and a pair of support arms. The top end of each pair of legs is pivotally joined by a joint means which further pivotally connects a receiving frame of the tabletop at its upper portion. Each of the receiving frame is provided with a pair of fixtures, the distance between the two fixtures is adjustable by a threaded rod disposed inside the receiving rod. Each of the support arms is pivotally connected to the receiving frame at its top end while its lower end is provided with a pair of dents permitting it to be supported on the forward extended legs by engaging the dents with a locating pin on the legs. When detaching the support arm from the locating pin on the legs, the legs may be folded toward each other and the tabletop may be lifted to form an upright position while closely attach the folded legs.

  • Patent number: 5063013
Abstract: Disclosed is a vise for clamping a workpiece in an adjusted position during operation on the workpiece by a tool, particularly the cutting wire of an electric wire cut discharge machine. For maintaining accuracy of the clamped workpiece and still occupying a minimum of space by the vise within the working range of the machine tool the vise is provided with a first fixed jaw and a second jaw movable along ways forming a reference surface. Wegding abutment surfaces and abutting surfaces are formed on the bed of the vise and on the second jaw, respectively, which engage during clamping the workpiece for preventing bending of the ways which allows a low profile construction of the vise.

  • Patent number: 5058871
Abstract: An examination table assembly has a drive assembly which is operable to raise and lower a table top relative to a base. A housing encloses the drive assembly. The housing includes a plurality of relatively movable sections disposed in a telescopic relationship with each other. The housing sections are movable between a telescopically retracted condition when the table top is in a fully lowered position and a telescopically extended condition when the table top is in a fully raised position. Controls for effecting operation of the drive assembly to raise and lower the table top include a plurality of flexible conduits containing fluid. Push buttons are manually actuatable to increase the fluid pressure in the conduits to thereby effect operation of the drive assembly to either raise or lower the table. A weighing device is provided to weigh an individual disposed on the table top.

  • Patent number: 5056766
Abstract: A vise for use with a machining table having an elongated T-slot in its upper surface includes a stationary jaw and a jaw support transversely extending over the T-slot and clamped against the table in spaced relation to one another by a clamping device centrally extending through the jaw and jaw support into the T-slot. A movable jaw is mounted on the jaw support with its gripping surface facing the gripping surface of the stationary jaw and its opposite surface inclined to the table. A wedge member having an inclined surface conforming to the inclined surface of the movable jaw is located between the movable jaw and the jaw support. Adjustment of the vertical position of the wedge member relative to the table enforces a horizontal motion of the movable jaw to grip a work piece located between the jaws. An auxiliary base member with a T-slot in its upper surface is also provided upon which the vise may be alternatively mounted for portable free-standing use.

  • Patent number: 5054179
Abstract: A water faucet valve removal and insertion tool includes a handle and a self-tapping threaded rod attached to the handle. There is a sleeve coaxial with the threaded rod and threadedly engaged therewith. The sleeve includes a rotational stop which is formed and adapted to interact with a water faucet valve. The threaded rod functions to form an internal thread in the stem of a water faucet valve to thereby attach the tool to the valve. The tool can be used to remove an installed water faucet valve or to insert a water faucet valve within a faucet housing. In either event the tool is attached to a water valve by the threaded rod and uses the rotational stop to turn an installed faucet valve or to turn a valve during insertion for proper alignment thereof.
