  • Patent number: 4756128
Abstract: An anchor that is inserted into the soil on a beach to keep the stern of the boat near the shore when the bow is anchored in the water. The anchor has a rod with a handle on one end and a point on the other. A flat strip has two parallel right angle bends in the same direction that divide the strip into three parts. The end of the first part is narrow and centered on the strip. The second part, between the two bends, forms a platform that can be stepped on, even with bare feet, to insert the anchor into light soil. The third part, between the second bend and the second end, is parallel to the first part and with the first part provides high resistance to the pull of a rope perpendicular to the plane of the first part. The flat strip has a hole large enough and located so the rod can be placed through the hole with the point past the narrow end of and against the first part of the flat strip with the bend of the handle pointed away from the second end of the flat strip.

  • Patent number: 4754773
Abstract: A disposable umbrella and the method of manufacture. The umbrella 100 has two parts: a flexible water impermeable canopy (102) and a rectangular rigid frame (104). Pocket (126, 128) are formed in two parallel sides of the canopy. The frame has outer dimensions substantially matching the outer dimensions of the canopy. A center fold line (138) in the frame defines two equal side panels (140, 142) and allows the side panels to fold together into a closed position. The canopy is fitted on the top of the frame by bending the side panels opposite the closed position until the frame sides (134, 136) slip into the canopy pockets. The panels are then returned to the closed position. Handles (156, 158) cut in the side panels fold down for use and position the umbrella in a peak-roof shape when aligned and held by one hand.

  • Patent number: 4751803
Abstract: A new method of construction for concrete wall structures. Precast concrete studs with fasteners protruding from one edge are used to build the framework of the walls while oriented in a horizontal plane, rigid sheet insulation is attached to the outside of the concrete studs, and wire mesh is laid upon the sheet insulation. Concrete is then poured onto the insulation, the wire and the protruding fasteners to form a continuous waterproof outer surface. New top and bottom beams which are bonded to the concrete studs are formed at the same time as the outer concrete surface. After setting of the concrete, the wall is one integral concrete structure which may be transported to a construction site for erection.

  • Patent number: 4750508
Abstract: A collapsible sunshade for erecting on a sandy beach includes a polygonal sail member and a complement of supporting poles corresponding to the corners of the sail member, the poles being particularly flexible for maintaining a desired tension in the sail member without requiring accurate positioning of the poles in the sand. The poles each have a triangular trough-shaped blade member for securely anchoring in wet or dry sand with a low level of downwardly directed force being required for penetration of the poles into the sand. Loops extending from the corners of the sail member enclose respective shanks of the poles, tensioning of the loops providing frictional engagement with the shank members for supporting the vertical load of the sail member. The loops of the sail member can be adjusted up and down individually on the poles, the flexibility of the shank members assuring the required frictional engagement, even when the sunshade is exposed to winds and accidental contact.

  • Patent number: 4748790
Abstract: A shelter contains walls enframed by members of a metal structure. So that the shelter offers efficient protection against violent explosions, and especially against the blast produced by a nuclear explosion, a wall consists of an internal panel having at least one metal side connected electrically to structure members enframing the wall, an external armoring panel, an air space between the internal and external panels, and energy absorbing means, such as flexible synthetic seals, located in the air space for keeping the external panel floating between the internal panel and flanges of the enframing members. This wall can form a door to the shelter.

  • Patent number: 4747422
Abstract: This invention relates to a pneumatic umbrella especially one of which the plunger in the middle section of the barrel will force the air to flow from the lower chamber to the upper chamber through the throttle valve and cause the piston in the upper section to push the sliding hub up to unfold the umbrella when the lower section is pushed up by the hand. When the operating button is depressed, the plunge will be pulled down by the spring and the piston will be sucked down with the sliding hub to fold the umbrella. When the knob set in the bottom cap is turned to some degree and the air release button at the bottom of the knob is depressed, the barrel can be collapsed one section inside another for easy carrying.

  • Patent number: 4741132
Abstract: A multiple panel metal roofing system is installed on a continuous roof deck. Elongated support members are aligned to create a supporting frame structure formed as a plurality of grid sections each having sides defining the perimeter of each grid section. A plurality of substantially planar outer skin sections are aligned with the grid sections such that the edges of adjacent skin sections overlap above the upper surface of the support members. A layer of sealant is positioned between the overlapping edges of adjacent skin sections. Fasteners such as screws penetrate through the overlapping edges of adjacent skin sections and the intervening layer of sealant and extend into the upper surface of the underlying support members to immovably secure the overlapping edges of adjacent skin sections to the underlying support members and to form a compressed watertight seal along the perimeter of each grid section.
