  • Patent number: 4821066
Abstract: A nonimpact printer, for example, a color printer, of the type having an endless movable web on which two or more images are formed by an electronic printhead and transferred in registration provides reliable registration using perforations along an edge of the web. A first sensing means, for example, a printhead sprocket, senses an edge of the perforations and controls the printhead. A second sensing means, for example, a transfer sprocket also senses an edge of the perforations and controls transfer. Error in image formation because of error in perforation formation is substantially corrected by using the same perforation for transfer that is used for printing.

  • Patent number: 4812875
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine having an editorial function includes a switch for setting "moving" mode. On the other hand, position whereto an original image should be moved and reproduced is designated by a mouse. The position is set and the switch is operated, then a microcomputer makes a movable light source or an original table to move in accordance with an inputted positional data prior to an acutal copying operation. During this moving of the movable light source, the microcomputer preliminarily measures a resist clutch ON timing when a toner image will be just transferred on the designated position. In actual copying operation, the resist clutch ON timing is controlled based on a time data measured by the microcomputer in the preliminary moving of the light source.

  • Patent number: 4811046
Abstract: Undesirable transient development conditions that occur during start-up and shut-down in a tri-level xerographic system when the developer biases are either actuated or de-actuated are obviated by the provision of developer apparatuses having rolls which are adapted to be rotated in a predetermined direction for preventing developer contact with the imaging surface during periods of start-up and shut-down. The developer rolls of a selected developer housing or housings can be rotated in a the contact-preventing direction to permit use of the tri-level system to be utilized as a single color system or for the purpose of agitating developer in only one of the housings at time to insure internal triboelectric equilibrium of the developer in that housing.
