Abstract: A sleeve and method for making the same for use in packaging consumer goods comprising a plastic film having a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge is disclosed. The plastic film is rolled into a tube wherein the first longitudinal edge overlaps the second longitudinal edge defining a flap. A plurality of seaming beads are applied along the first longitudinal edge to seam the first longitudinal edge to the second longitudinal edge, the plurality of seaming beads including an inner seaming bead and an outer seaming bead to form a plurality of seams in the sleeve. In exemplary embodiments, the plurality of seaming beads are utilized with different adhesive solutions. Other embodiments include, but are not limited to a perforation strip between the at least two seaming solutions.

Abstract: A mailer is disclosed for distributing advertisements and invoices. The mailer provides an envelope for returning the invoices and a buck slip for displaying advertisements and incentives. The return mailer is attached to the mailer and removed from the mailer simultaneously upon the opening of the mailer.

Abstract: The flexible storage bag includes overlaying first and second sidewalls defining an internal volume that can be accessed from an open top edge. To evacuate air from the internal volume after the open top edge has been closed, the bag includes a one-way valve element attached to the first sidewall and communicating with the internal volume. To prevent the one-way valve element from becoming clogged by the opposing second sidewall, the bag also includes a clearance member that maintains at least a partial clearance between the first and second sidewalls proximate the valve element. The clearance member can take many forms such as a textured portion on the second sidewall that includes evacuation passages which provide air in the internal volume access to the valve element, a permeable element covering the valve element, and a rigid or compressible structure that spaces the second sidewall from the valve element.

Abstract: A two way mailer for conveying an item from a sender to a recipient and back is disclosed. The two way mailer comprises a base panel, a sender address panel, and a recipient address panel. The base panel and the sender address panel may be made from a single contiguous piece of material or from non-contiguous pieces of material. The recipient address panel is preferentially part of the same contiguous material as the base panel and the sender address panel. The sender address panel is affixed by at least one adhesive region to the base panel to form a pocket for containing the item during mailing. The size of the pocket eliminates free space and flushes the item with an edge of the pocket which first enters automated postal processing equipment. In this configuration, a fragile item may be conveyed from the sender to the recipient and from the recipient back to the sender without damage to the item.

Abstract: A flexible pouch for packaging a product, such as a carbonated beverage, is provided that includes a front panel and a back panel each having an upper edge, a lower edge opposite the upper edge, and side edges extending therebetween the upper and lower edges. The pouch includes a first closing seal extending along an upper edge of the joined front and back panel formed a predetermined length from the open edge so that there is no dead space inside the pouch between the product and the first closing seal and a second closing seal outside the first closing seal, to form a pocket trapping some of the product between the first closing seal and the second closing seal. A method of forming and filling the pouch includes the steps of forming each panel and joining two panels by scaling together the side edges and lower edge. The method also includes the steps of opening the pouch and filling the pouch with the product.

Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate is formed to have a built-in opening and reclose feature by forming the laminate as a two-part structure having an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation with an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting an opening portion (e.g., a flap or the like) of the two structures out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate.

It comprises a reclosing strip (43) which is separate from the flexible sheet (12) and an adhesive (44) which can be reactivated by means of pressure and which is interposed between the outer surface of the flexible sheet (12) and the reclosing strip (43), the adhesive strength of the adhesive (44) to the surface of the reclosing strip (43) being greater than the adhesive strength of the adhesive (44) to the outer surface of the packaging sheet (12), the reclosing strip (43) and the packaging sheet (12) having identical structural features.

Abstract: A flexible bag comprising an outer panel assembly, a cavity sealing assembly, a spout assembly, and a handle area. The outer panel assembly comprises a first panel and a second panel positioned in an overlaying orientation. The cavity sealing assembly includes opposing side seals, a top cavity seal and a bottom cavity seal which cooperate to form a cavity. Two extension regions extend away from the top cavity seal. The spout assembly is attached to the first panel and provides fluid communication with the cavity. The handle area includes a top handle seal spaced apart from the top cavity seal and the first and second extension regions. The first extension region in cooperation with the top handle seal defines a first side opening slot, and, the second extension region in cooperation with the top handle seal defines a second side opening slot. A hanging opening extends through the first panel and the second panel between the top cavity seal and the top handle seal.

Abstract: A bag formed of a sheet material adapted to be filled with contents and opened at the top for taking out the contents. The bag has fused joints along the lateral edges thereof. A plastically deformable wire-like member is attached inside the fused joints over a length from the output opening side portion to the body portion.

Abstract: A backpack is provided with a cushioning, inflatable bladder, the lower part of which extends across the bottom and an upwardly extending part so as when inflated, it generally conforms to the shape of the curvature of the thoracic region of the spine. The bladder is enclosed within a zippered bag wrapped around it that is joined to the outer surface of the backpack. A pump is provided for inflating the bladder. The pump is hand operated with a bulb-shaped configuration and connected to the bladder by means of a tube. An air valve connected to the tube controls the amount of air flow into the bladder and maintains the bladder in inflated position after air has been pumped in, and also permits deflation of the bladder. The pump and valve may be stored in a side pocket of the backpack provided for that purpose. Optionally, the pump could be battery operated.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for collecting fallen leaves or other objects. According to various embodiments, the apparatus comprises a mesh, central collection section for lying flat on the ground such that objects may be accumulated onto an upper side of an interior portion of the central collection section. The apparatus also includes an enclosure system connected to the central collection section such that an operator can enclose a peripheral portion of the central collection section around the interior portion. In that way, the objects accumulated onto the central collection section can be easily transported and subsequently emptied. The apparatus may also comprise a plurality of stiffeners connected to a lower side of the peripheral portion of the central collection section. The stiffeners may extend inward from an outer edge of the central collection apparatus and may be made of plastic.

Abstract: A generally rectangular trash bag for use in an aircraft trash management system. The trash bag includes a non-porous, generally rectangular flexible side wall and a porous, generally rectangular bottom panel, such that when the trash bag is filled with trash and is compacted, any liquid contained in the trash drains through the porous bottom panel. The porous bottom panel of the trash bag is impregnated with one of a non-leaching anti-bacterial agent and a leaching enzyme.

Abstract: A reclosable pouch includes interlocking male and female closure elements having elongate hollow closure profiles. The male closure profile has a hollow shaft section, and the female closure profile has a channel with at least one hollow side. Alternatively, a set of hollow male closure profiles may also form one or more female closure profiles therebetween. A set of pleated grip strips may be disposed adjacent the closure elements to aid in opening a pouch. The closure elements and grip strips may be integral with pouch sidewalls, may be secured and/or separately extruded on to, for example, a polymer, directly to pouch sidewalls, or may be secured to backing strips to form a closure strip, which may subsequently be secured to pouch sidewalls.

Abstract: This invention provides a combination note pad and credential holder having a neck cord or lanyard that passes through a loop in the notepad to allow the item to be worn about the neck at a desired level, typically at chest height. The notepad can include a back cover that supports a writing pad and a hinged front cover, joined to the back cover and selectively opened to access the writing pad. A small pen can be removably attached to a loop between the covers along a side of the writing pad. The bottom edge of the notepad includes a fastener assembly for removably attaching a credential sleeve with a clear window for displaying the user's credential document(s). The sleeve has an open side that allows the documents to be slid thereinto. The fastener assembly can comprise one or more sets of interengaging snaps, look-and-loop members or a zipper-like structure. When not needed, the sleeve can be removed or flipped into a position behind the back cover, out of view.

Abstract: Disclosed is a vacuum packaging bag. Three edges of the bag are sealed and one edge is equipped with a concave-convex fastener. The bag is equipped with a deflating device. The deflating device consists of a base, a holding washer, a cover, and a sealing washer. The cover and the based are connected through screw threads. The base is placed inside the bag. The screw part of the base penetrates through one side of the bag. The holding washer fastens the film against the base. The sealing washer is placed on a support. The support is placed in the passageway between the base and the outside of the bag. The middle of the cover has a pressure post which is connected to the sealing washer. The middle of the pressure post has an opening to the outside of the bag. A deflating cylinder is used with the deflating device of the bag. The deflating cylinder is a piston cylinder. The front part of the piston rod has two holding boards. Between the holding boards there is a spacer.

Abstract: A storage bag comprises: first and second panels joined or connected on three sides and having a mouth on a fourth side; a pair of zipper strips respectively joined to the first and second panels in the region of the mouth, each zipper strip comprising respective upper and lower zipper profiles; resealable means joined to at least one of the zipper strips in a region between the upper and lower zipper profiles; and a slider that pushes the respective pairs of zipper profiles together and reseals the resealable means as the slider travels along the mouth of the bag. In one embodiment, the resealable means comprise a layer of adhesive material that adheres to the base web of the opposing zipper strip as the moving slider presses the adhesive material and base web together. In another embodiment, the resealable means comprise first and second layers of cohesive material that cohere to each other as the moving slider presses the layers of cohesive material together.

Abstract: A tubular bag with cap closure for the accommodation of fluid foodstuffs, wherein the base of the bag is constructed especially as a standing base and is welded or sealed fluid-tight with the bag as a separate component along the base-end bag edge, wherein the tubular part of the bag is manufactured from a single cut of film, especially a cut of laminated film, the longitudinal edges of which are sealed one over the other to form a “lap seal” (inner/outer seal) or alternatively constructed as a “fin seal” (inner/inner seal). A cap closure that is part of a relatively stiff cover is welded or sealed fluid-tight with the upper or closure-end bag edge. The tubular bag according to the invention has an enhanced filling capacity and improved stability.

The body (188) has an openable end (190) and a sealed end (192) with foldable and securable closure element that facilitate the non-destructive repeated opening and closing of the container (186). The closure element is integrally formed with the container (186) by the shape cutting and folded formation of the container end (190) during manufacture. The closure element is sectioned to include an openable section (196) which incorporates discharge element in the form of a pouring spout for discharge of container contents, and a closed section (198) which is adapted to incorporate carrying element (298) such as a handle.

Abstract: A bag for placing in a cylindrical or barrel-shaped container includes front and rear panels (11, 12) between which side panels (13, 14) folded double are positioned. The base of the bag runs to a point along edges (17, 18). When the bag is unfolded this is able to come into contact with the inside wall of a cylindrical or barrel-shaped container having a round base and neck without significant stresses. As a result high material stresses are avoided and the barrier properties of the bag are retained. The front and rear panels (11, 12) can be joined to one another by breakable fastening lips (22, 23).

Abstract: A mailer intermediate includes a generally rectangular sheet of printable, postcard stock having first and second side edges, first and second end edges, and first and second faces. A fold line extends substantially transverse to the side edges and substantially bisects them, whereby the sheet is divided by the fold line into first and second postcard portions. An adhesive pattern is provided on the first face of the sheet, adjacent at least one of the first and second end edges, for securing the first and second postcard portions together adjacent the first and second end edges. Adhesive patterns on the first face of the sheet adjacent the first and second side edges are provided only near the fold line, whereby the first face of the first and second postcard portions are not adhered together along a substantial majority of the extent of the first and second side edges of the first and second postcard portions. The fold line may be defined by a line of weakness, such as for example a perforation line.
