Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a processor that causes a conveyance unit to convey a first sheet to print an image on the first sheet in a free size printing mode, before a user instruction for starting printing is accepted, and causes the conveyance unit to start conveying a portion of sheets of a plurality of sheets following the first sheet to print a portion of images on the portion of the sheets following the first sheet, before detection of the size of the first sheet. The processor also causes, in the free size printing mode, the conveyance unit to start conveying other sheets, of the plurality of sheets, following the portion of the sheets following the first sheet, to print other images on the other sheets, in accordance with having confirmed detection of the size of the first sheet.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus which is able to reliably send desired communication setting data irrespective of specifications of an NFC R/W unit placed close to an NFC tag. The NFC tag sends data to a mobile terminal, which is put close the NFC tag, via near-field wireless communication. It is determined whether or not the NFC R/W unit has a transmitting function of transmitting other data to the mobile terminal, which is put close thereto, via the near-field wireless communication. In a case where the NFC R/W unit has the transmitting function and it is determined that the mobile terminal is put close to the information processing apparatus, the transmitting function of the NFC R/W unit is prohibited from being used.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises an image reading section, a size detection section, and a reading controller. The image reading section reads image information of a reading object. The size detection section detects a size of the reading object. The reading controller has a first mode in which the image reading section reads the image information of the reading object at the size detected by the size detection section and a second mode in which the image reading section reads the image information of the reading object at a maximum size at which the image reading section can read the reading object as operation modes, and generates image information of the size detected by the size detection section based on the image information read by the image reading section if the second mode is selected.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for printing via printing device-independent instructions. A rendered print job is received from a printer driver. A value of an attribute of the rendered print job is obtained. Determination regarding whether the value of the attribute of the rendered print job corresponds to one of a plurality of values acceptable by a printing device for the attribute is made. In response to a determination that the value is acceptable, the rendered print job is sent directly to the printing device. In response to a determination that the value is not acceptable, the rendered print job is re-rendered with a value acceptable by the printing device for the attribute, and the re-rendered print job is sent to the printing device.

Abstract: An image reading device includes a loading plate, a frame, a scanner, a flat cable, and a holding member. The scanner includes a reading mechanism that extends in a main scanning direction and reciprocates in a sub-scanning direction on the side of a bottom surface opposite to an upper surface on which a document on the loading plate in the frame is loaded. The flat cable extends in the frame so that a width direction of the flat surface follows a direction orthogonal to the bottom surface of the loading plate. The holding member reciprocates together with the scanner and holds a part of the flat cable from the side on a main surface of the frame.

Abstract: Disclosed are an ink edge anti-counterfeiting method and an ink edge anti-counterfeiting network identification system. Tiny sawteeth (6) are randomly produced on ink edges of a product code (4) and/or an image-text and the sawteeth (6) are zoomed in on and photographed, feature information about the sawteeth (6) on the ink edges acquired through photographing is stored in an ink edge anti-counterfeiting network identification system database as anti-counterfeiting feature information, and sawtooth feature information to be checked is compared with the sawtooth feature information in the database to identify the authenticity. The method and system are simple and easy to implement, do not need to increase equipment investment, can realize an effective anti-counterfeiting function, and can avoid the problem in the existing digital anti-counterfeiting techniques, such as a telegram code, that the anti-counterfeiting feature information can be easily copied and stolen by internal staff.
