  • Patent number: 5180207
Abstract: Limited pivotability is imparted to a headrest for an automotive vehicle without having the resistance to pivoting change during the life of the headrest by providing a pair of pivot elements within the headrest which have brake stubs engaged by resilient strips functioning as brake shoes which bear upon these stubs and which are braced against the frame of the headrest to which the body of the headrest is attached. The support rods from the vehicle seat pass through openings in the bottom of the body to engage the pivot members.

  • Patent number: 5180208
Abstract: A knockdown furniture, such as a chair, comprises a series of elongated tubular members adapted to be interconnected with quick release automatically locking couplings to form a frame of the furniture. A canvas panel having end sleeves can be mounted to the frame to provide a support surface, such as a seat panel, of the furniture. Pockets are provided on one side of the support panel, such as the underside of the seat panel, in order to receive the individual tubular members when the furniture is disassembled. A zipper which is provided at opposed end edges of the support panel is used to form a sleeve therewith which contains the pockets and thus the tubular members, thereby resulting in a compact storage of the dismantled furniture.

  • Patent number: 5172955
Abstract: An infant seat having a seating surface positionable between upright and reclined orientations, the seating surface being supported by arms which are connected to torsion springs in a base, the torsion springs providing a bouncing motion to the seating surface in both the upright and reclined orientations. The base includes a rear support member which pivots between a support position, in which the member is substantially coplanar with the base, and a collapsed or folded position, in which the support member is pivoted adjacent to the seating surface. In a preferred embodiment, the connection between the seating surface and support arms includes a pivot plate pivotally connected to the seating surface and support arms and includes a slot engaged by a shoulder rivet attached to the support arms which defines limits of pivotal movement of the seating surface.
