  • Patent number: 4649781
Abstract: A food cutting apparatus with a feed chamber for feeding a food product, in which a longitudinally slidable pressure plate bias the food product against a cutting blade. Against each wall of the feed chamber is a conveyor belt movable at the same speed as the rate of feed of the food product by the pressure plate, thereby eliminating fouling of the wall surfaces and resulting in a more precise and repeatable cut.

  • Patent number: 4650114
Abstract: Between a plurality of side-by-side punches and an operating slide having reciprocating motion is arranged a selective motion transmission device which consists of two pluralities of toothed couplings in mutually opposed positions. The toothed couplings of a first plurality are made integral with the punches while the others follow the reciprocating motion of the slide but are shiftable transversally to it between a neutral position and a working position. In the latter position the teeth of the opposed couplings are mutually aligned and thus allow transmission of the reciprocating motion of the slide to the corresponding punches.

  • Patent number: 4648181
Abstract: A precision linoleum seam cutting tool cuts the overlying layer of linoleum to be installed next to an underlying layer of linoleum previously installed on a floor to provide a flush straight flat seam in a single step. The elongate tool body is constructed and arranged for grasping and moving the tool in the elongate direction. A pair of adjustable spaced apart guides are mounted on the tool body with a first aiming guide at the lead end and a second blade guide at the trailing end where the linoleum scoring blade and cutting blade are positioned. The guides define channels or recesses for receiving the overlying or next layer of linoleum to be cut and installed and are formed with an edge follower for abutting against and riding along the edge of the underlying layer of linoleum for aiming and guiding the tool.

  • Patent number: 4648468
Abstract: A portable, hand-held tool of the type generating vibration during operation is improved by a construction in which the forward barrel-like part of the tool is embraced by an elastomer-filled cavity or cup in a barrel-related handle, the handle and barrel being typically rigid but separate and secured together by only the elastomer material. The cup-like part of the handle surrounds the rear part of the barrel to afford an annular space, which is filled with initially flowable and subsequently curable elastomer, notably of polyurethane. The base or radial rear wall of the cup is spaced to the rear of the radial rear end of the barrel and this space is contiguous with the annular space and is also filled with the elastomer material. This wall has a through opening to allow for temporary deformation of the elastomer during operation of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4644835
Abstract: In a motor driven circular saw, a saw blade drive is provided, by which a rotary movement of a saw blade, supported on a rotary blade shaft, is superimposed by a back and forth-movement in the direction of sawing to produce a forward stroke and a backward stroke of the blade and to thus improve cutting efficiency of the saw. The saw blade drive includes a pinion at the end of a motor shaft, a first gear meshed with the pinion and supported on the saw blade shaft, a second gear meshed with the first gear and having a cam and eccentrically positioned together with the cam on a stationary axle. • Patent number: 4644832
Abstract: A position sensing transducer senses the lateral movement of the saw blade resulting from variable operating conditions. These sensed values are displayed on instrumentation for use by the saw machine operator, and are also used to automatically control work feed rates and/or rim speed of the saw blade. These automatica corrections and/or compensations maintain lateral movement of the saw blade within established limits. Optimized work feed rates and superior cutting accuracy result from this precise automatic control.

  • Patent number: 4643243
Abstract: A machine for repeatedly impacting metal castings in order to clean the castings of debris, such as sand, is formed of a wheel-like frame which is rotatably mounted upon a horizontal axle. The frame is divided into four equally spaced apart compartments which provide two pair of opposed compartments. The radially innermost wall of each compartment is formed of a metal plate arranged parallel to the axle so that the plate of the uppermost compartment is horizontal and forms a floor-like support for the casting which is then located in that compartment. Each plate is loosely supported upon springs and has an exposed end portion that extends transversely outwardly of the frame. An impact hammer is arranged to repeatedly apply blows that are directed radially towards the axle against the exposed end portion of the uppermost plate for vibrating the plate and for transmitting the forces of the blows to the casting for loosening debris clinging thereto.

  • Patent number: 4643063
Abstract: A tube cutoff machine for cutting a tube to precise lengths, which tube may be exiting from a tube mill at relatively high speeds. The tube cutoff machine includes a frame which supports a carriage for generally linear reciprocal movement parallel to the linear path of movement of the tube, the carriage in turn supporting a tube shearing apparatus. The carriage is reciprocated by a crank drive mechanism and additional connecting structure, which insures that the carriage will move at a constant linear speed for a duration of time sufficient to shear the tube as the carriage moves from a first location to a second location. The additional connecting structure includes a bell crank having an intermediate portion which is pivotally secured to the carriage, one end of the bell crank being secured to an end of a connecting rod of the crank drive mechanism, and the other end of the bell crank being provided with a cam follower which is caused to engage a stationary cam carried by the frame.
