  • Patent number: 9815276
Abstract: A firing circuit for a thermal inkjet-printing nozzle includes a heater resistor and a switch. The heater resistor heats ink to cause the ink to be ejected from the nozzle. The heater resistor has a first end and a second end, the second end connected to a ground. The switch controls activation of the heater resistor. The switch has a first end connected to a voltage source and a second end connected to the first end of the heater resistor. The switch operates in a constant current mode, such that an at least substantially constant current flows through the heater resistor upon activation.

  • Patent number: 9815279
Abstract: An inkjet head drive apparatus comprises a pressure chamber, an actuator, a nozzle and a drive signal output section. The pressure chamber accommodates an ink. The actuator increases or decreases volume of the pressure chamber through an applied a voltage. The nozzle is connected with the pressure chamber to eject the ink through the change in the volume of the pressure chamber. When an ejection pulse for the ejection of the ink from the nozzle is repeated for equal to or greater than three times, the drive signal output section outputs a drive signal having a driving waveform including an initial ejection pulse having a first voltage amplitude and the a second ejection pulses and the pulses thereafter having a second voltage amplitude smaller than the first voltage amplitude to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 9790388
Abstract: A radiation-curable ink composition for application to glass, ceramic, or metal by an inkjet printer. The ink composition can be applied to a glass, ceramic, or metal substrate to decorate, protect, etc. the substrate. In some embodiments, the ink composition includes a glass frits component, a chromophore component, and a UV-curable component. The glass frits component facilitates the fusing of the ink component with a glass, ceramic, or metal substrate to which the ink composition is applied. The chromophore component is the primary colorant of the ink composition. The UV-curable component facilitates activation of polymerization upon exposure to ultra-violet (UV) radiation, which causes the ink composition to cure and fix/pin to the underlying substrate. After the ink composition is applied to a substrate and cured by exposure to UV radiation, the substrate is heated to a temperature that causes the ink composition to fuse with the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9776391
Abstract: A printing process is disclosed which comprises directing droplets of an ink onto an intermediate transfer member to form an ink image, the ink including an organic polymeric resin and a coloring agent in an aqueous carrier, and the transfer member having a hydrophobic outer surface so that each ink droplet in the ink image spreads on impinging upon the intermediate transfer member to form an ink film. The ink is dried while the ink image is being transported by the intermediate transfer member by evaporating the aqueous carrier from the ink image to leave a residue film of resin and coloring agent. The residue film is then transferred to a substrate.
