  • Patent number: 5515638
Abstract: A limit line linear fish catching device having an elongated barrel and a coaxially disposed internal elastic spring humanely allows hooked fish to remain in the water until harvested. Preferably the elastic tube spring extends between a pair of spaced apart guiding elements coaxially centered within the device. A limit line interconnects both ends of the tube spring and limits the elongation of the spring. The limit line extends from the support through the device to the fishing line and interconnects the components of the device. The device is cocked by stretching the spring tube. The tube functions as a linear spring. The limit line from the bottom end of the barrel is secured by captivating a stop in a slot defined in the barrel end. When a fish strikes, the stop is dislodged from the slot, freeing the line. This action activates the spring which contracts and hooks the fish.

  • Patent number: 5513464
Abstract: An active fishing lure that impales a fish in response to an initial fish strike. The disclosed tackle comprises an elongated, durable stainless steel or resilient plastic casing that may be externally disguised as bait. The casing houses a trigger, a compression spring and a torsion spring. The casing also partially houses the secondary hook when it is cocked. The secondary hook rotates between a cocked position and a triggered position. The primary hook is attached to the trigger. The trigger temporarily secures the secondary hook in the cocked position with a projecting tang. The secondary hook is released by a fish strike upon the primary hook. When the trailing primary hook is attacked by a fish the trigger is displaced linearly within the casing to unleash the active or secondary hook. The torsion spring forcefully rotates the secondary hook toward a triggered position where it impales the fish. In this position, the disclosed device prevents the escape of the fish.

  • Patent number: 5513462
Abstract: Method for harvesting of brine shrimp eggs (cysts) from bodies of salt water. A floating collection boat is used with a very long floating boom, which is first deployed across the paths of wind blown individual colonies. Numerous colonies are quickly intercepted, and enclosed by upwind circling of the boom. With subsequent constriction of the enclosure, the cysts are consentrated into a thick slurry at the collection boat.

  • Patent number: 5514008
Abstract: A board mounted connector for interconnecting the conductors of the non-terminated end of a flexible circuit or flexible cable to conductive traces on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a two part intermatable housing. The first part of the housing is attached to the circuit board while the second part, having end flanges that slidingly engage the ends of the first part, is movable with respect to the first part between a closed position where the conductors of the flexible circuit are held in contacting engagement with the contacts of the connector and an open position where the flexible circuit is free to be inserted into or removed from the connector. A positive stop is associated with each end of the connector, adjacent diagonally opposite corners, to render the second parts captive to the first part. A detent mechanism is associated with each end of the connector to bias the second part in both its open and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 5511336
Abstract: A fishing rod holder having a hip plate made of thin, flexible plastic, with a cylindrical tube, open at its top and bottom, attached to the hip plate. The tube slopes, from its bottom to its top, both forwardly and outwardly from the hip plate and supports a fishing rod, with the reel of the rod hanging and being supported on the top edge of the tube. When the hip plate is worn on a user's belt, the tip of the rod, and the hook, are located forwardly and to the side of the user, keeping them out of harm's way. The tube can be slidingly detachable from the hip plate and can be made in various forms to hold different kinds of fishing rods.

  • Patent number: 5509227
Abstract: A fishing net mechanism with a supporting tubular frame and an inflatable floating assembly mounted thereon. A compressor in a vessel is connected to the inflatable floating assembly to submerge or bring afloat the fishing net mechanism. Two identical pairs of interlocking sections define the supporting tubular frame. Carrier assemblies slidably mounted to the supporting tubular frame hold the net member through an edge cable positioned at the rim. Upper and lower cables are used to control the position of the mechanism which is hoisted to the vessel. A constraining loop is controlled by the lower cable and when inside the vessel is allowed to release the netted fish.

  • Patent number: 5505013
Abstract: A purse ring for interconnecting a purse seine to a purse line has a frame with a first roller mounted across the frame, creating a purse line passageway. The first roller permits rolling engagement with the purse line as the purse line is retrieved during seiner operations. The frame of the roller is formed with a pivotable cable release arm to permit insertion or withdrawal of the purse line from the purse line passageway. A crossbar can also be attached across the frame which forms a bridle line passageway for connecting the purse ring to a bridle line or some other means of connection to the seine. A second roller can be mounted on the crossbar to permit rolling engagement with the purse line. The frame is formed with a pair of elbows in the frame next to the first roller, creating a widening of the frame around the purse line passageway near the first roller.

  • Patent number: 5499472
Abstract: A snag-resistant wholly recoverable sinker for the distal end of a fishing line includes a bag into which a plurality of beads strung on a line are placed, the end of the line being attached to the lip of the bag, and the mouth of the bag being elastically constricted by a resilient collar. The diameter of the first bead at the proximal end of the string of beads is greater than the diameter of any of the remaining beads. When the bag becomes snagged, the fisherman has only to pull hard enough on the line to draw the larger first bead through the mouth of the bag against the resistance of the resilient collar after which the smaller beads follow thereby reducing the size of the bag until it is freed. In an extreme case, all the beads will be pulled from the bag, and they will be followed by the empty bag to which the distal end of the line is attached. Significantly, no parts of the sinker are lost in the process of freeing it, and the sinker may be reeled in and reassembled by the fisherman for reuse.
