Abstract: A vehicular camera includes a lens accommodated in a lens barrel, a lens holder that accommodates at least part of the lens holder, and a printed circuit board with an imager disposed thereat. The lens barrel is attached at the lens holder by a cured adhesive with the printed circuit board attached at the lens holder, or the printed circuit board is attached at the lens holder by a cured adhesive with the lens barrel attached at the lens holder. With the lens in focus with the imager and optically center-aligned therewith, the adhesive is initially cured to an initially-cured state in an initial curing process that includes UV light exposure for a first period of time. The initially-cured adhesive is further cured to a further-cured state in a secondary curing process that is achieved within a second period of time that is longer than the first period of time.

  • Patent number: 10382754
Abstract: Disclosed herein are exemplary embodiments of innovations in the area of encoding pictures or portions of pictures (e.g., slices, coding tree units, or coding units) and determining whether and how certain filtering operation should be performed and flagged for performance by the decoder in the bitstream. In particular examples, various implementations for setting the sample adaptive offset (SAO) syntax elements in the H.265/HEVC standard are disclosed. Although these examples concern the H.265/HEVC standard and its SAO filter, the disclosed technology is more widely applicable to other video codecs that involve filtering operations (particularly multi-stage filtering operations) as part of their encoding and decoding processes.

  • Patent number: 10378882
Abstract: Examples of a light field metrology system for use with a display are disclosed. The light field metrology may capture images of a projected light field, and determine focus depths (or lateral focus positions) for various regions of the light field using the captured images. The determined focus depths (or lateral positions) may then be compared with intended focus depths (or lateral positions), to quantify the imperfections of the display. Based on the measured imperfections, an appropriate error correction may be performed on the light field to correct for the measured imperfections. The display can be an optical display element in a head mounted display, for example, an optical display element capable of generating multiple depth planes or a light field display.

  • Patent number: 10373324
Abstract: A measurement apparatus that is capable of positively generating a projection pattern suitable for a to-be-read object. A camera scanner as the measurement apparatus projects a projection pattern formed by a plurality of projection lines on a to-be-read object to thereby measure the bending of the to-be-read object. A distance to the to-be-read object is measured, and distance distribution information of the to-be-read object for identifying a shape, a size, and a position of the to-be-read object is generated based on the measured distance. The projection pattern is generated based on the generated distance distribution information of the to-be-read object.

  • Patent number: 10368074
Abstract: Innovations in opportunistic frame dropping for variable-frame-rate encoding of digital video are presented. In general, a computing system selectively drops a frame when the cost of encoding the frame (e.g., in terms of use of computational resources and/or power) is expected to outweigh the benefit of encoding the frame (e.g., in terms of better quality). For example, a frame dropping module detects whether there is significant change in a given frame relative to a control frame, which is a previous frame stored in a control frame buffer. If significant change is detected, the frame dropping module stores the given frame in the control frame buffer, thereby replacing the control frame, and passes the given frame to a video encoder. Otherwise, the frame dropping module drops the given frame without replacing the control frame in the control frame buffer and without passing the given frame to the video encoder.

  • Patent number: 10354402
Abstract: A computer estimates a first position of an image capturing apparatus by using a prescribed number of combinations that correlate projection lines to feature lines. The projection lines are obtained by projecting candidate lines included in shape information of an object onto an image. Then, the computer generates a first projection line by projecting another candidate line onto the image using the first position, and selects a feature line that corresponds to the first projection line. Subsequently, the computer estimates a second position of the image capturing apparatus by using a combination that correlates the first projection line to the selected feature line. The computer generates a second projection line by projecting the other candidate line onto the image using the second position, and determines a third position of the image capturing apparatus according to an indicator of an interval between the second projection line and the other feature line.
