  • Patent number: 10104731
Abstract: A dimmable driver for an LED light fixture allows multiple types of dimmers to be used with the light fixture. The dimmable driver may be disconnected from one type of dimmer and subsequently connected to another type of dimmer without having to replace or otherwise adjust the driver for each dimmer. Multiple types of dimmers may be connected to dimmable driver at the same time and the dimmable driver may use dimming signals from one or several of these dimmers. In some embodiments, the dimmable driver is configured to accommodate a step dimmer, a 0-10 V dimmer, and a phase-cut dimmer. Other dimmers and dimming protocols may be accommodated by the dimmable driver in alternative embodiments. Such an arrangement maximizes flexibility for lighting specifiers, contractors, and distributors while minimizing potential errors, costs, delays, and obsolete inventory.

  • Patent number: 10104729
Abstract: The invention provides a driver circuit for driving an LED arrangement which uses a switch mode power converter, for example a flyback ringing choke converter, which comprises a main switch (e.g. bipolar transistor) and a sub-circuit for generating a current for the control terminal of the main switch. The sub-circuit in some examples makes use of an auxiliary winding as a voltage supply, and further comprises a ramp circuit for generating a ramp voltage from the voltage supply and a voltage follower, such as a control transistor, connected between the voltage supply and the control input of the main switch. By ramping up the current of the main switch, the losses arising as a result of the current flowing to the control input of the main switch are reduced. One set of examples makes use of a flyback ringing choke converter, which enables low cost implementation and good efficiency. The driver is able to receive a wide range of input voltages, by ensuring that the power loss is kept low.

  • Patent number: 10104736
Abstract: A method controls a light barrier where light is emitted from an optical transmitter to an optical receiver. The method checks whether reception levels fall below a lower threshold or exceed an upper threshold to determine whether the light barrier is interrupted. The thresholds initially are adjusted based on a predetermined minimum reception level, with each threshold being a fraction of the minimum reception level. An allowable reception level range is defined between the minimum level and a predetermined saturation level. The method checks whether the current reception level is outside the allowable reception level range, and, if this is the case, calibrates a parameter for operating the optical transmitter based on the minimum reception level and/or the saturation reception level. The parameter is calibrated by calculating a gradient of one characteristic curve of the light barrier and readjusting the parameter to a target value calculated based on the gradient.

  • Patent number: 10056018
Abstract: Lighting methods and systems to enhance the browsing behaviors of shoppers in a manner intended to be primarily subconscious include illumination of a targeted area, such as a typical retail display, with a tunable spectrum lamp that slowly cycles through different illumination spectra such that color rendering of illuminated target is deliberately varied for subtle arousal of the visual senses. The illumination spectra, and the rates at which spectral conditions are changed, are both chosen as such that multi-colored objects in the targeted area change in appearance in a barely noticeable way, such that shoppers may find their visual attention redirected, seemingly at random, to a wider variety of products on display. Color spectrum changes also may be controlled in coordination with predefined packaging colors to create quasi-animation effects.
